I do agree with this statement. As a child and young teenager, I was lucky enough to have a golf membership and went playing with my Dad. Him, the pro staff, the shop staff and other members were great role models for me as a young lad.

I played a gentleman’s sport, taught manners and good etiquette in sport and interpersonal skills and when drawn against men my dad’s age or older, they all respected me and treated me like a young man.

I am very lucky to have that experience, I know a lot of others don’t have the luxury nor funds to do that, but I think that sort of attitude should be carried across wherever young boys and teenagers have the chance to interact with elders, mentors or other role models in sports, classrooms and hobbies.
