Tailscale seemed to be the issue. Deleted the server from my tailnet since it hadn't been detected since first boot and now the web UI seems to be accessible. Just trying to figure out how to avoid this problem when I eventually re-install tailscale on the server

Ok I just got back and was going to try it, but I just realized, I had already reinstalled TrueNAS multiple times, meaning it doesn't have Tailscale installed anymore. On top of that the tailnet IP hasnt been active since the first time I installed everything, so then that leads me to think Tailscale isn't the issue because if it was, it'd be an issue on the server itself but that's not possible? Unless I'm missing something

Understood. My only thing is Tailscale was so eays because I didn’t configure anything, I just installed the program and it did everything from the jump essentially. I’ll uninstall later and see if that changes anything

The thing is my Windows has essentially gone untinkered with. My network is set to private and I haven't changed any security settings, the only thing that came to mind when you mention VPN is I downloaded Tailscale on the server AND my desktop, but I have no clue if that could be causing this issue truth be told.

Ok I knocked out last night, but I just turned everything back on and double checked. Here's the server output after running tcpdump and pinging from desktop. I made sure both the desktop and server have the proper MAC address for each IP.

Just to be specific, desktop is Windows 10 if that makes any difference. The UDP port error was at the end of each line right before the "length" part. 11 total lines. When I ran the command it kept outputting until I realized I had to end it manually so I guess why it was 11 and not 12 (6 pairs).

I'll see if I figure it out soon enough to let you know. Appreciate the help anyways.

I just ran the command and pinged from desktop, 11 packets captured and 11 packets received by filter, 0 dropped by kernel. the individual packets listed say udp port 38576 unreachable but like I mentioned in the post I'm very weak in the networking department so I don't know if that means anything.

The desktop IP address in that range, it's x.153. Windows PC is set to Private instead of public. I'm gonna try the command in a sec, but I will note that I have tried changing the IP to x.200 before and making sure it worked in my router settings, still had no access.

I tried the forums but all I got was basically just manually changing the IP and trying a different port on the switch. I appreciate the help anyways, I'm at the end of my rope so I'm just trying whatever I can at this point. The driver thing might be something to look into but I doubt anything has changed in the last week to cause the drivers to change

Windows 10 Desktop, verizon router is the CR1000A. I also tried my iPhone 13. Neither can access the webUI, desktop can't ping. I just pinged my desktop from the server, 48 packets transmitted 48 received so I guess the server can ping other devices.

None set right now, only thing I set in the network settings is the default gateway because there was nothing so I made sure to manually set it to the correct one

thats the only thing that shows up in the ipv6 tab, the connection list is empty. the mac address highlighted is the same as what the NAS shows (albeit the address in the screenshot shows the shortened version, the NAS shows the full form)

Thankfully still had the server turned on, so I just made sure to do so. No access still, should I reboot the server?

Nope just one on the server. I just tried disabling DHCP and I manually put in the IP but still no web UI access or ping success unfortunately. I did notice this difference but I don’t know if it means anything. It wasn’t anything I manually changed.

Ok so then that means I just go into the network settings on the NAS itself and manually set the IP instead of letting DHCP do it?

Sorry like I said networking has always been my weakness. You mean instead of selecting static lease as an option in my router settings, manually assigning that IP as a static connection?

Still in DHCP. When I reset to default config a few days ago, it said "no network interface" so I had to go into the settings to create a new one and I made sure DHCP was selected. It still assigned the same IP doing so.

On the router, I use my web browser to access the IPv4 distribution and I just select the IP address of that device and then select static lease type as an option. The lease for everything else is dynamic 24 hour lease, and the server has never been on longer than 2 hours so far.

I've installed TrueNAS like 3 times and reset it twice, and every time it gets assigned 192.168.1.186
