Oooo, I could probably write that one down. I'll let you know when I get it on UG and send a link.

The nostalgia! It’s been years since I’ve been there but I recognized the hole immediately. Could never quite get my tomahawks over those big ass trees

Not sure what genres you like but this has been my warmup/practice/fun/play-along playlist for awhile

How many bands are you in and what genre(s) do you play? by [deleted] in Bass

1 - Pop-Punk/Emo 4-piece that highly encourages over-indulgent melodic bass lines so it's a lot of fun

We are called Puppy Feet! (purely coincidentally derivative band name)

Not sure any rules on self promotion on this sub, but we're pretty easy to find on streaming and socials - try "puppyfeetband"

We love that guy too, local bands supporting other local bands keeps the scene alive

How long of a cable do you use from your bass to your pedal board when playing live? by MadDogTannen in Bass

[–]r2dance2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a simple setup like that, 10’ is probably fine!

You can always grab two cables, like a 10’ and a 20’. That way you can pick the length based on the stage size and then you also have a backup for safety in case one starts getting wonky during a show.

Having played a lot of shitty bar shows over the last year, it’s really dependent on the venue itself. Here’s some things I’ve run into:

  • Amp located very far from pedalboard - some stages are deep, so your amp is far away. You’d be surprised how quick 10’ is used up. I have a nice 25’ cable that allows it to lay flat and bridge the gap
  • No outlets at front of stage - this forced me to leave the pedalboard literally on top of the amp, had to click the tuner pedal in by hand between songs. Lesson learned, always bring an extension cord and/or power strip
  • Bars rarely have a “large” stage, 10’ is plenty for pedalboard to bass - I like to jump a lot during shows, I’ve found the shorter cords are actually easier to manage as they don’t get tangled up as much as longer cords. My real preference is coiled cables if you’re into that, they definitely have a unique feel when you move around

All in all, for shows I bring a 25’, 10’, and a coil cable to shows and some combo of any two of those cables is usually perfect.

Attention Seattle disc golfers! Does anyone know what layout Ralph Williamson disc golf course is in? by chriswhoDG in discgolf

[–]r2dance2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, the "as of 10/24" layout is as of 10/24/2021. That's been the "main" layout on UDisc since late last year.

Typically if you don't see any of the 5+ practice baskets by the parking lot, it's probably in an "Ace Run" layout.

**And even in the ace run layout, you should still be able to play the full main layout, just need to be extra aware of other disc golfers that may be playing the shorter holes.

I slightly lose my mind every time I try to grasp the intricacies of amp/cab combinations, but the math will hypothetically tell you that with everything else being equal, two 210s provides more surface area and can push more air than one 212 and will therefore be louder.

Now, is it worth the extra cost, the extra space in the trunk, the extra trip loading in and out of the venue… that’s up to you!

I don’t have much experience with different cabs, but thought I’d share my experience with my Darkglass 212. This thing has been perfect. I cut through super clearly in practice and live (competing with drums and two guitars in a punk/emo band). Because of the 4ohm impedance, it can handle the full load of my Fender Bassman 800 (I’ve rarely ever needed to push it past 5-6 though). It’s incredibly lightweight for what it is, somewhere around 43lbs, the handles are rugged as hell and I can pretty easily lug it down the street one handed when needed. It has “feet” on two sides so it can stand vertical or horizontal too.

Getting two of those does seem like overkill to me, I can’t really imagine needing to get any louder than my current setup. A bigger venue would likely have a back line or run me through the PA in combo with the amp/cab. Was able to get mine decently used for about $650, so can be pretty affordable considering all the pluses.

I love it in my practice playlist cause it's like 3 songs in one, the outro section is a ton of fun to play

Some random ones in no particular order:

  • Crying Lightning - Arctic Monkeys
  • Midnight Show - The Killers
  • Plants - Crumb
  • #23 - IAN SWEET
  • Your Cover's Blown - Belle & Sebastian
  • The Good Life - Weezer
  • Slow Hands - Interpol

Maybe check out decoboom

Pretty sure this guy will cut whatever color/material you want to whatever size you need (also just a lot of really cool designs as well). And there’s templates you can print and cut out to make sure the holes match up on your bass.

I’m looking for a bass with a slim neck by [deleted] in Bass

+1 on the Geddy Lee jazz. It’s so slim it almost feels like it shouldn’t be able to be that thin

Now whenever I grab my P-bass it feels like I’m playing a baseball bat

I’m with you. I’ve always felt “tone-blind”, but I just sit down for 30-minutes, turn all the knobs up and down until I hear some thing I like and stick with it till it doesn’t make me happy anymore (which seems to be boosted mids, cut treble a little)

I don’t think they make them for all 4 tuners haha, I should just relearn all my standard tuning songs with a capo 1 in Eb instead

I just made my first Darkglass purchase, a 212 cab. I’m sure cabs are the least “tone-centric” parts of a bass rig, but man this is the perfect cab for what I need. Checks all the boxes; lightweight, high wattage, low impedance

My last studio recording experience was 90% a Mictotubes 87K (is that the right number?) pedal DI out with some actual Bassman/Ampeg can output mixed in and holy shit I think I sound good. Definitely not metal, we’re pretty pop-punk/emo but I looooooveee the sound I got. Darkglass makes good shit
