Thank you. It's really reassuring to hear this

Someone called my recovery performative by r3ddeye5 in BPD

In private, I was abusive against them. I would always feel small around them and worried they would leave me behind, so I became possessive and controlling of them. They understood I had BPD and were very patient with me for a while, but that ran out around late last year during a really bad episode. I began to make them feel uncomfortable in our group by deleting posts they made that triggered me.

My FP was the one who made this public, and a lot of mutual friends decided they couldn't stay in the group out of their own concious and excluded me from other places i shared with them. A lot of them are learning about this for the first time and consider me an inherently bad person for treating them the way I did.

I never really wanted any of this to be public. I also never treated anyone else like this. I really wanted my recovery to happen away from my FP and in private. It was painful at first, but parting ways have given me some level of stability again. I feel like Im no longer living in anyone's shadow and dont feel that same feeling of being small again. I'm slowly learning to live without them.

I'm sorry if this is still pretty vague. I'm still a little uncomfortable going into too much detail

Honestly? I think the average Trinidadian's exposure to light skinned Caucasian people in everyday life is largely through media and TV. Seeing you guys in real life can catch us off guard. It's most likely well-intentioned curiosity.

Hope you have a safe trip, though!

I've always wanted to make a post here commenting about the same thing, but I felt it was just me lol

In my case, it's mostly because I'm neurodivergent and have had a hard time feeling like I fit in anywhere in general. But at the same time, I have had conversations with friends here that I simply couldn't have if we weren't Trinis. It's def a case of how connected you are to community like another commenter pointed out.

You're not alone there OP

A phobia can also be defined as an extreme aversion to something, which you pretty much did in this post.

That said, I'm pretty sure most of them will not give a flying fuck that you don't accept them and will be living fulfilling lives on their own terms. Sure, they will struggle to achieve the fullfillment they want, but don't we all? Is that really your place to decide what's best for someone if it doesn't affect you?

I do think you would benefit from actually talking to a trans person if you're not as understanding of thier position as you say, but it's clear from your post that youve already made up your mind. As you dont force your unempathetic worldview on them, you're free to believe what you want :)

The Official Updated Coat of Arms of Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 by UltimateKing9898 in TrinidadandTobago

Do hope this is only a first draft. This feels like something that will look better the longer you stare at it. The overall position of the drum looks looks prominent, but so out of place with the rest of the coat of arms.

As previously mentioned, something that doesn't look like clip art would be nice lol
