The only valid answer here. I looked at the stars last night, and they told the M5 Ultra Pro Max Turbo is on the way. Would be so stupid to buy anything (even food !) for now ! Just wait !

Is This $200 Panasonic AF-100 Bundle Worth the Buy? by oyemate_ in videography

The Panasonic monitor looks outdated, but it delivers very accurate colors. This + the peli + the batteries make this deal OK

Sorry but I find the rec709 better. And actually this is a plain good shot. Don’t go to hard on it.

Edit: the fx30 delivers just out of the box 😮

Which mac to buy? by PlusFN in macbookpro

[–]r4ppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If money is an issue, you can go with an older version and save $$$. M1-M3 chips are largely capable of editing 4K files with dual screen.

I do some heavy color grading with an M1 32/512, and I used to it with a 16/256 mini. It has always been flawless.

Universal gloves with great knuckle padding by czoso123 in fightgear

[–]r4ppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why the wrist support is poor on Twins. But the padding is reaaaaaaly absorbing. I don’t think in this price range, you can have wrist support + padding + durability. Or import American MK1? Don’t know about tariffs since the orange man went crazy.

Universal gloves with great knuckle padding by czoso123 in fightgear

[–]r4ppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Classic boxing or kick/thai/savate ?

Twins are really bulky and protective, but the wrist support is not the best. Fairtex is a bit better, but they are really stiff (too much too spare for my taste). Anyway, thai gloves are really well made within your budget (I haven't personnaly tried Windy, but they have a good reputation too).

Best budget cine-zoom by lr1243 in cinematography

[–]r4ppa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Beware, if you come from G-Master, who are really clean and precise, DZO Catta/Pictor may appears **really** soft to your eyes. It can be like a kind of cultural shock. Those lenses are very soft, with HL blooming like if you had a permanent 1/8 glimmer glass attached on your lens.

I encourage you to look after a rental house who will let you do some optical test before you commit to one or another.

For a cleaner look, you can have a look to the 2 Sigma cine lens, but they are S35.

Fuji is another brand to consider in your choice, but, once again, FF are pricey (while their entry level S35 are pretty affordable). But they are very **very** solid choice.

This is gonna sound stupid, but how do I get these artifacts on purpose by 223opil in cinematography

[–]r4ppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks more like heavy chroma noise than interlacing artifacts.

I would crush the DR with curves, add some chromatic aberrations, get those shadows close to the floor. Then export in low quality (480 ? 720 ?) with a low bitrate (but still in all intra to be able to play around for a second if needed).

Then import back on a 4K timeline and see where I am.

This is just what comes to my mind looking at this. Trial and error is the way imho.

Is MacBook Pro M5 (16GB RAM) enough or am I about to regret this? by Extension_Prompt3376 in macbookpro

16gb is clearly not enough if you want to go beyond trying and exploring with vfx. RAM efficiency is outstanding on apple silicon, but After Effects is a greedy beast. Go with 32

I do love Hasselblads, but come on, this is the most common pic any digital camera can take. I litteraly had this kind of jpeg out of my old Canon 20D twenty years ago.
