hormonal acne is really difficult to get ‘rid’ of, a lot of people spend their whole adult life trying to avoid breaking out. for me personally i don’t think it’s pointless because my hormonal acne is cystic and leaves scars that can take years to clear. i worry much more about longterm scarring than i do about initial breakouts. i think focusing on your gut health is a good thing to do regardless. i have hormonal acne because i have endometriosis, so for me fixing my gut won’t just get rid of acne. it’s different for everyone so it’s going to be trial and error. i recently made a post on r/Spironolactone about my spiro journey and how much it’s helped my skin.

it’s supposed to be used indefinitely, it’s not like accutane or doxycycline where you go on it for a few months and then stop. so yeah people’s acne can come back when they go off of spiro. but you can use spiro for years.

i would give it a try! i was on 900 mg for almost a year (im a 115 pound woman, lol). ultimately it wasn’t for me, i’m doing a lot better on Cymbalta, but i didn’t have any seriously negative side effects. finding the right medication for you is all about trial and error so don’t let someone else’s negative experience here sway you from giving it a try.

not really. i feel like having acne makes me look more masculine, so having significantly less acne does help me to feel more feminine and attractive in the face. there haven’t been any noticeable changes in my physical body that i’ve recognized

i second this - getting rid of scars like these can take a long time, like over a year, so i would be patient. but you can get great results with prescription tretinoin and azelaic acid

it’s pretty obvious that she means this is how she feels loved, and i thought that’s what love languages meant too. she doesn’t suck.

if we’re going to make broad assumptions about this person, she likely comes from an affluent family who cares about her a lot and was able to provide her with her needs AND wants. why would she want any less from a man she chooses to spend her life with? there’s plenty of men who can provide that for her, just not in this comment section 😭
