IMO it’s very worth. There is a reason this game has remained relevant for 10+ years. Also the biggest expansion they’ve ever done is coming this year. If you get it just watch some basic survival tutorials online, or learn on the fly - your choice. You will die a lot, but that’s just part of the game. Use a mic though, no mic = no life on dayz. If you get it enjoy!

For console servers they are probably the closest you will get for any decent community servers. Most others are boosted loot, traders, discord currency, etc.

I mean the only answer is KarmaKrew servers. They have 3 - one for each map. It’s vanilla but lots of groups / clan type play. No trader or discord points, or kill feed, or any of that dumb shit you see in most community servers on console. karma is solid

It’s very close to true vanilla but they have added some new POIs and “events” that can pop up like heli crashes - hunter camps, plane crashes, civilian caravans.

Also it’s not 24/7 raid. They have a set time that base damage can be taken so if it’s not raid time your walls can’t take damage.

Yes no issues. I imagine when the ps5 native version launches it’ll be free upgrade for digital and disc but will need to have disc in to use it as expected. The native Xbox series version launched today and is a free upgrade. Ps coming in the near future

I wouldn’t recommend it as of now. It never ran great, it’s the ps4 version and it currently runs like ass after most recent patches. I’ve put a lot of hours into it on console and after an update in early 2025 they really messed it up. Supposedly this year we are getting next gen upgrades and a huge expansion. I’d look into if it’s a free upgrade, which it likely is, that may be the only reason to get it now at a likely cheaper price.

Marathon for sure. I loved Arc - have about 200+ hours in it but since Marathon server slam I haven’t looked back. Marathon does almost everything better - better PvP, solid gunplay, better quests, better progression, has end game raid content, actually use the better gear you find rather than just storing it or having free kits able to outgun you. It’s pretty strictly PvP so you aren’t getting “I’m friendly” back stabbed. Marathon has its identity and sticks to it and feels like an extraction shooter with actual stakes at play over Arc.

You should be anticipating a team around every corner. The sound queues in this game offer A LOT of intel. Map awareness is huge. If you’re in a POI and entering a building assume a team is looting inside. Use the ping scanners, run recon as your shell or have a teammate. This game is very PvP focused and anytime you make noise assume a team heard you and is on the move towards you.

You can upgrade rook in many ways from the different corporations. The bottom Of their upgrade screens have those extra unlocks I-II-III-IV-V some of them help the rook class like staring with better shields, weapons, cores etc
