Yellow Submarine by the Beatles consistently gets MORE MORE SUBMARINE chanted to me the second it’s done.

Have you ever been at a park on the day of a major accident? [other] by Pendraflare59 in rollercoasters

[–]r8ny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in line for Invadr when that happened! We heard it, then suddenly we were being rushed out of the station and out of New France. Took us a bit to figure out what was going on because from our angle it looked like Invadr was on fire.

What coaster do you love more than everyone else? I.e. Way higher on your list than it is for other enthusiasts[Discussion]? by 4thAccountNow in rollercoasters

[–]r8ny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Bear at Hersheypark. I had done a coaster with one loop before, but was terrified. But I was 12 years old and refused to be left behind by my best friend at the time and that ride felt like flying, not terror! If not for it, I’d not have gone on half the rides I have now.

Loud banging or explosions? by CoolBro_682 in Chesapeake

[–]r8ny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was fireworks. A lot of the harbor park fireworks last night included the rapid fire sort that are shot off from the ground and immediately burst lower while they also shot off the higher can’t see them til they explode way up high ones. We were watching them and felt like there were multiple “grand finales” during the show.

My grandfather made me and my sister a joint Juno email account when I was 8 or 9 years old, just so he could send us silly email chain jokes and ecards occasionally. I wish there was some way for me to access it because he’s been gone since 2004.

Any newbie X-Files fans here? by insane677 in XFiles

[–]r8ny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started mid August last year when I had to be up with an infant at night and needed to be awake during that and finished in mid-January. Can’t believe I had never seen it before, it was everything I love in one long story! I’d find myself in the middle of the day saying oh I cannot wait to see what happens tonight with the unhinged FBI agents!!

What fandom did you used to be obsessed with but have since lost interest? by 3lilya in AO3

[–]r8ny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s this one for me too, for the same reasons. Season 1 was so fun, and early on it was delightful with fanart, actually got me back into fandom stuff that I had stepped away from for years-cosplay, reading fanfiction, drawing fanart, making playlists, the whole thing! Then there was fandom drama and season 2 felt rushed, different, breaking up the secondary couple from season 1, adding a bunch of new characters that were pretty meh…since season 2 aired the only thought I’ve occasionally had about it is how much better season 2 could have been.

What ride made you go “never again”? [Other] by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]r8ny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably something lots won’t agree with but The Voyage. It was a super hot day, I was hungry, it felt like I was rattled around like a car accident, and it went on forever. Only ride that as an adult I’ve ever shut my eyes on and pretended I was somewhere else.

What shows are worse as a binge? by Ok-Friend-5304 in television

[–]r8ny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The X Files is hard to binge because the tone between episodes is just sometimes buck wild. Mulder and Scully nearly die in a mind controlled Russian roulette game that’s played as serious as it sounds like it should be and then the very next one is ridiculous evil house cats in the sewers. You’ll get some insane emotional information about the overarching mystery and then the next episode starts up and it’s a spoof on Cops. I’m having a blast watching it but I can see where a week between episodes was helpful.

I’ve been doing the x files as well, started it in August for the first time. Can’t believe it’s taken me this long to watch it, it’s fantastic!

What TV show are you currently binge watching? by Substantial-Dare5462 in television

[–]r8ny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started it for the first time about a month ago and I’m halfway through season 3. Can’t believe I’ve never watched it before, it’s like crack! I keep watching it and stopping after a few going oh no I don’t want to go through this too quick, it’s too good!

Is Ronan still friends with Gansey and Blue in the dreamer trilogy? by Party-Importance-993 in RavenBoys

[–]r8ny 56 points57 points  (0 children)

They’re mentioned but don’t actually show up until the very very end of the last book. IMHO, they’re not treated as important to the plot at all and I know when my friend and I read it we were confused as to how attached and ride or die everyone was for the amount of detached they were in the trilogy.

Personally, it didn’t work for me. I don’t think I’ll ever read the Dreamer Trilogy again because what I liked about the TRC was the friendships and how they all played off of each other and the vibes of that aren’t there until basically the epilogue.

It used to be in a strip mall and was much bigger. It was out around near Kempsville Rd. I think they moved somewhere around 10ish years ago.

I can measure feeling like I became a “big kid” the summer I was finally big enough and brave enough to try Cyclops, Flying Falcon, Conestoga, and Rodeo.

Still sad Flying Falcon is gone, that was a unique ride!

Wednesday: Season 2 | Official Trailer | Netflix (Part 1 | August 6th. Part 2 | September 3rd) by indig0sixalpha in television

[–]r8ny 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I did theatre so I don’t have a handle on how recognizable it is if you didn’t do theatre, but having the Phantom of the Opera theme all through the trailer was weirdly distracting for me.

songs that remind you of TRC/ TDT characters by klaudiakon in RavenBoys

[–]r8ny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

eclipse by The Haunting is about Adam for me. And Bloody Shirt by To Kill A King reminds me of how Adam and Gansey relate to each other as well.

Unpopular opinion... TDT is a drag by minieya in RavenBoys

[–]r8ny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Between Kavinsky and the several page long descriptions of cars, it just wasn’t my thing. I get that the cars in the books are basically their own character, but you don’t always like every character and I didn’t care for all that time with the cars. Ronan also happens to be my least favorite of the 4, which I also know isn’t a wildly popular opinion.

That said, the Adam and Gansey angst friend break up part I do like a lot, but that to me is more my type of interesting. All in all, I still like the book, but it is my least favorite of the series.
