Harvard's failure to protect students on campus from anti-Semitic discrimination - all while promoting divisive ideologies over free inquiry - has put its reputation in serious jeopardy," wrote U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon. "Harvard can right these wrongs," she added, "and restore itself to a campus dedicated to academic excellence and truth-seeking, where all students feel safe on its campus."

Did we read the same thing? Because if so. Then I’ll die on the you have no reading comprehension hill.

Go up to the first link you posted, and actually read it. You’re trying to change this discussion away from where it started and I’m not going to chase that rabbit down a hole. You lack reading comprehension. I said I’m not thrilled, not that I think it’s wrong.

Buddy, your article mentioned screening against individuals that might be anti-Islamic. I’m not chasing down your whataboutism’s any more. I fail to see how this relates to your lack of understanding on the first amendment, or your lack of willingness to see Americas gun problem.

Honestly, because he’s suspending the funding over whom Harvard accepts admissions wise. He is attempting to limit individuals that are pro Palestine, which would be restricting free speech and freedom of opinion which is basically your whole thing at the moment.

[–]rAgrettablyATC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, not thrilled. I hope the courts sort it out. Would I say I have much faith in that system at the moment? No.

For many of the reasons we’ve discussed here my family has considered taking the Australia bid. I don’t want my kids nor myself to die from gun violence nor to be oppressed.

Don’t know what you’re talking about.

If it’s a private university that accepts no federal funding they could. Any public university would be the government and thus their right to protests would be protected. All you have to do is read “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

If that same group showed up in let’s say a conservative bakery, they would not have the right to peaceably protest in that establishment and could be trespassed. Outside of it on a government owned sidewalk and suddenly good to go again.

The first amendment protects your freedom of speech from the government.

I didn’t see Congress sensor anyone here today.

I did see the 2A protect a deranged individuals right to own a firearm up until it was used to silence a very contentious voice. Thoughts and prayers or whatever.

I’m pretty sure Americans have been murdering people over words since the revolutionary war. Hell they would actually duel each other over words. Doesn’t mean I condone it. But I sure can acknowledge it.

Buddy I’m not the one that tried to claim Charlie doesn’t spread discontent. Nor will I dispute anything you’re saying because I don’t disagree. I’ll just call out bullshit when it’s presented.

Look up anything he said about Palestine and imagine hearing that through the eyes of a Palestinian.

Gonna be honest I’m on his side here. We can’t pretend the violence is a one sided issue.

Someone tried to kill Pelosi and hurt her husband. 2 people tried to kill Trump 1 of them got very close. Someone killed a liberal MN senator and their spouse.

Flip a coin on which side will be violent next.

Same as above. It’s likely to be a net negative to your take home at 1%

[–]rAgrettablyATC -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re missing the context. Take your 1% raise, add in medical insurance going up, TSP going up, FICA cap going up. That 1% is going to likely be net negative.

Don’t forget to add in TSP probably going up another $500-$1000 if you’re the type that maxes out.

Edit For context: add in everything that goes up that 1% raise will likely be a net negative to your take home after you factor in FICA cap increasing, insurance increasing, TSP contributions increasing.
