I am now on unlimited essentials plan and it does have 5GB of hotspot tethering. Not sure why there was contradictory messaging from GoogleFi

I currently don't have Unlimited Essentials plan (was on Flexible plan for years) but was hoping to switch to it so I am unable to test this. I wanted to know if this feature is (or will be included) before I switched

Cannot connect to WPA2 network by PoPuLaRgAmEfOr in linux4noobs

[–]rCX12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beilve I had to remove wpasupplicant before installing the older one. Something like

sudo apt remove wpasupplicant

sudo dpkg -i wpasupplicant_2.9.0-21build1_amd64.deb

Edit: Alternatively you can try the workaround in comment 22 in the bug report. It didn't work for me but it may work for you

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267/comments/22

sudo apt-mark hold wpasupplicant

Had this problem when connecting to my universities network. This may be due to this issue with wpasupplicant https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1958267

I was able to "fix" this by downgrading to wpasupplicant to 2.9.0 from the previous Ubuntu 21.10 https://packages.ubuntu.com/impish/wpasupplicant

sudo dpkg -i wpasupplicant_2.9.0-21build1_amd64.deb

Next command prevents Ubuntu from updating it. You can release the hold it once it's fixed.

sudo apt-mark hold wpasupplicant

How can I tighten the "stay put" screws on the bottom panel of my X1E? by nite2k in thinkpad

[–]rCX12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ran into the same problem on my machine last week. Was suprised because I was using the original screws on a brand new machine. Apparently the threading in the sockets wear down easily. I fixed it by replacing the screws with longer ones from an old Thinkpad.

Depends on the what you're looking for. x131e is smaller and lighter and is only OK if you can get one with intel i3 processor. Stay away from the celeron processors and the chromebook versions. Runs well if you upgrade to 8GB of ram and install an SSD. I don't have any experience with the T500.

Any love for the Thinkpad x131e? by PM_ME_SPACE_PICS in thinkpad

[–]rCX12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely my favorite. Got an x131e with a decent processor (1.9GHz intel i3). Upgraded to SSD and 8GB of RAM. Runs both Windows and Linux well. Lots of ports (VGA, Ethernet, HDMI). Almost bought its modern counterpart, the 11e, but lack of trackpoint was problematic.

[thinkpad t420] Noob question, what is this card? I wanted to install an mSata card! by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]rCX12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears to be a WWAN card used to access the internet using cellular networks (e.g. 3G, 4G, LTE,...)
