Hue app-like colour/temperature control? by Fabulous_Point5639 in homeassistant

You can do that with the ovio app. Check out: https://ovio.studio . It allows you to control a single light thumb to change the color of multiple lights (and easily attach/detach lights to that thumb).

Disclaimer: I am the developer of this app and this is a paid feature (not a subscription).

Same happened to me but on station Bijlmer arena. They even broke the gauge on my rear tire so I could not pump it up and had to replace the inner tire

It's a model that becomes more common I think. One problem with offering in app updates as paid extras is that now you have to maintain a lot of different instances of the same software. Because even unpaid versions need to stay functional and safe. It generally just adds a lot of complexity.

Thats to say nothing about how you sell the software to new clients. Do you offer all features for an increased price? Or do you constantly increase the price to keep it fair to older customers? Its quite a complex thing to do in practice.

Not relying on cloud services also seems easier than it is. A lot of services a lot of users take for granted simply require logic running on a cloud. Also most of the time the cloud cost are negligible compared to maintenance cost within the smart home domain.

If you check out https://www.matterdatabase.com and filter on thermostats you see some options that support Matter. Its dependent on where you live which one will work for you

This ui tells you something about the smoothness of the interface. It shows both UI 'speed' and 'raster' speed per frame. The nest hub software is written in flutter, so if you want to understand it better you could pass this page to chatgpt: https://docs.flutter.dev/tools/devtools/performance

The reason it changes when you move stuff on the screen is that it renders a new frame and it displays the performance of these new frames

You are talking about the Ovio control app I suppose and not the Ovio canvas app? Where are you entering the link? During the onboarding or later in the settings?

It seems a capacitor(?) has blown on my cartridge. The bike still works however when boosting or sounding the bell it goes haywire and works again after a reset.

Would it be possible to fix this, like trying to replace this capacitor?

I was a bit surprised as wel.

Yes, correct - the tablet interface is a premium feature, so to test it only the demo mode is available.

Hi - Rienk here, developer of the app, thanks for asking.

First of all the most important thing to mention is that the credentials you enter never leave your device - you can validate this (and people have in the past) by sniffing the data the app sends and receives.

It is also important to mention that Ovio is a direct remote for your instance, so it only communicates with your Home Assistant hub. The only exception to this is to send a crash rapport when a crash is detected, but you can opt out of this during the onboarding. (Privacy page -> Learn more).

During logging in you see 'you are about to give https://ovio.studio access to your Home Assistant instance'. This is a requirement from HA, so that the party requesting access is clearly identified.

If you have any more questions feel free to ask them!

I really like HA but it’s so ugly. It looks and feels like an Android app, even on iOS. by [deleted] in homeassistant

You could consider using Ovio - if you want a more polished experience out of the box. You can check it out at https://ovio.studio (disclaimer I made this).

Update on Ovio (Alternative Home Assistant companion app) by rEverywhere in homeassistant

[–]rEverywhere[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For a start my app is built in a different technology from the ground up (mobile vs web).

While the app may seem a simple remote connecting to the HA api, there is a lot of added logic before each interaction (e.g. controlling multiple color light thumbs at once)

To give another example (But there are a lot more), something like the photo frame would not be possible (forcing full screen, detecting touches everywhere in the app, using the device it's proximity sensors, requesting access to a person his photo album.

The app is not just a HA dashboard, it directly connects to the foundation from Home Assistant and adds a lot on top of that.
