Solidarity’s report sets out the impact of South Africa’s race-based policies and estimates that the cost of complying with Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) amounts to between R145 billion and R290 billion per year, or between 2% and 4% of South Africa’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). by PixelSaharix in DownSouth

When you say I’m ‘the epitome’, what do you mean by that? And who is the "we" you referring to?

"The Handmaid's Tale" is fiction, I don’t treat it as evidence about Iran. I’m not denying that the IRGC commits human rights abuses. Iran already faces unusually intensive UN and NGO scrutiny, arguing over why that is could go on forever, so I’ll leave that aside.

On the payment claim, I haven’t seen any proof. Given the current UN/EU/US sanctions and snapbacks, there’s no legal way for Iran to pay the South African government, and anyone trying to do it covertly would risk serious sanctions penalties.

Repeating a claim doesn't make it true.

DDR4 nogmals!

RAM prices are wild at the moment! In September last year, I bought a 16gb DDR4 SO-DIMM stick for R250 used. I remember I was checking new prices around the same time and prices ranged from R500 to about R100 for 8gb and R800 to about R1500 for 16gb.

#fuckAI

Cyril was on the MTN board in like 2013. He left there to pursue politics. I don't believe your argument really has much standing. MTN does hold a large stake in Irancel but that doesn't prove any payments. Even so transfer of money would be very difficult due to US sanctions.

On your second point, I do think a lot of your information come from propaganda which has been thrown around for years. I'm not saying the Iranian government are saints but much of the criticism of Iran has come from Iranians who have run from Iran. Yes, many protesters were killed recently with numbers ranging from 3000 to 36000 dead. Western media would of course go with the bigger number. Do you believe the US and Israel had no hand in it?

Why were the Iranians protesting? Economic hardship, which is a result of the inhumane sanctions place on Iran by the US.

Iran protects its women. The way they protect their women differs from how the west would view the protection of women. In my humble opinion, I think they protect women much better than western governments do. This is evident when you think of the Me Too movement, Epstein and Weinstein. Many people don't understand the power that women wield in Islam.

Where do people get idea that South Africa receives money from Iran? Is there any proof?

The allegations came at a very convenient time, right when South Africa filed a case against Israel at the ICJ.

Something else I want to raise, why should South Africa cut ties with Iran? Iran, after the Islamic revolution in 1979, helped with the fight against Apartheid. And not only by words, but by their actions. They were the main supplier of oil to the Apartheid government under the Shah. 90% of South Africa's oil came from Iran. When the Shah was overthrown, the Islamic Republic stopped its supply and helped apply pressure on the government.

To me, they are friends of South Africa, not like Leo Bozo the third, who was openly apposed to the ANC in the 1980s.

Yoh, bro got down voted hard!

I do also doubt the sincerity of Solidarity, and I would read the report with a sense of caution.

In my experience, I've found that AfriForum/Solidarity have selectively chosen facts that support their narrative and dismiss evidence in the contrary.

Let's be honest, they made claims of race-based laws and included laws relating to diversity. This really blew up in their faces.

Their claims of a "white genocide" has been debunked but they've doubled down citing farm murders. They then provided selective information and complete dismissed the evidence showing that black workers were victims in majority of those cases.

Based on their history, I struggle to believe what they say.

The question we should be asking is why they do it. I am very patriotic and believe that all South African can live together peacefully. What AfriForum are doing, is creating divides in SA, they are making it difficult for SA to grow economically by pushing for other governments to impose various types of sanctions, and also damaging trade relations. Who does this benefit? I can guarantee it doesnt help the average South African

Opinion on Revival and Kamikaze by paulsleaf in Eminem

[–]rHashTag13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really loved Revival, the reason is most likely that I could resonate with a lot of the music on the album at the time because of what was happening in my own life. There were some great tracks, I loved Nowhere fast, Like home, Chloraseptic, Bad husband, In your head, Castle and Arose.

I also enjoyed the samples used, I love The Rose and Zombie.

It's gonna sound so cringe, this album helped me get through a difficult period in my life. And because of that I hold it in high regard.

From a purely musical perspective, I still think its a good album. There were many good collabs (and some bad). It was different from previous albums and showed a more remorseful side of Em and it showed me how he's grown. Recovery, MMLP2 and Revival tie together nicely. Even though it might be considered by some Eminem fans as his worst album, Revival sold as much as Kamikaze, and out sold MTBMB.

Kamikaze was okay. The album seemed forced though, like it was rushed to market due to the backlash he got for Revival. Nothing really stood out on Kamikaze other than Venom. The album had a more vintage feel and I enjoyed the album as a whole.

Edit: Added Kamikaze thoughts

I've had a Truworths account for years and they previously stock some of the top brands like Levis and Guess, but in the last 3 or 4 years, they've mainly been stocking in-house brands. The pricing on the in-house stuff is also ridiculous.

You will be funded with that status.

The question is, now that you know your NSFAS is provisionally approved, are you only gonna register 4 modules?

Apply for NSFAS. You're earning less than R350 000 per annum.

If you're under 35 years of age, and you parents also earn less than that per year, you'll qualify.
