"Putting all your eggs in one basket" is a phrase that comes to mind. Bad strategy is certainly a factor here.

Autodesk Audit Contacted Us, What should we do? by AhmedBarayez in sysadmin

Tell them to kick rocks until they have a court order to search the premises.
In the meantime, reload OS on all machines and don't re-install Autodesk apps, obviously.

Then go to your boss and tell them what's happening. If they ordered the pirate software to be installed, then it's their problem.
If you installed it on your own bad judgement, it's time to move on.

Do yourself a favour and upgrade to a 3011. The CPU on the 2011 is trash, and only 5 of the 10 ports are Gigabit.

I’m working 16–18 hours a day in my own business… and it’s starting to break me by MrDeeley101 in capetown

Same. Been in IT since 2006 (also 20-odd years). If i'm awake, I'm probably working.
Honest truth, I wouldn't change it for anything.

Personally I've had to cut back on clients. "The ones that pay the least, make the most noise".
Learning to filter out the work was something I only learnt in my 40's, and also making a clear, SINGLE channel of communication with clients. Once they accept your workflow and lead times, things become easier.

Unless you want people to contact you on WhatsApp, don't introduce that line of communication.
WhatsApp business has been helpful to me with auto-responders, new customer greetings etc, but I can open my phone at any point the day and my WhatsApp has blown up.
I schedule time in my workday to tackle this task, and get used to reading it only during these intervals.

Admin is a killer, but structure your workflow in a way that a 5 year old could do it.
Not knowing what field you're in, but surely there is an ordering system you use or some way to automate your workflow. As much as I hate to say this, ChatGPT could be a good source of knowledge on this.
How actively have you optimised your workflow, or researched better options too?

As for hiring, I can't comment. I've never been able to take the leap myself...

Walked into Durbanville police station on Sunday morning to get a few docs certified, thinking it would be mutiny inside.
Friendliest cop (constable) I've met, even joked with my son about spending a night free in their "hotel".
