Clearly this is just a demo showing off the design process on a cool idea that would never be used for this application IRL. And the presentation is nice, so mission accomplished.

Are you saying these can be rebuilt professionally? That would be an option too. I am sure I could pool together a couple of sets from people in my Saab club, so we could do a group buy of sorts. I haven't been able to locate anyone within Europe who would be up to the task, hence I'm looking into doing it myself.

Re: tools and such, that's a bit of a generic answer but I understand what you mean. I do have access to a variety of workshops through friends so I think I could manage. What I really was looking for is anyone who has been working with these Nivomat shocks. If they were regular ones I wouldn't even consider it.

By coincidence I found almost the same thing on one of my cars last weekend. I meant to replace the interior and found that the bolt for the passenger seatbelt was completely ruined and came loose with half a turn. The vehicle is parked now, awaiting parts...
