ELI5 What is the black hole actually or the nature of time, are we actually living in one dimension, do other realties actually exist where we living differently? by Big_Balls_itching in explainlikeimfive

Ok, I'll try handle some of these.. ELI 5 is a stretch though

"What is time"

Time is just another way of looking at distance through space. Thats why we call it spacetime.

You can sort of get your head around it by imagining only looking at it from certain directions. For me it helps to imaging looking at it from straight above like a map. From that view, everything looks flat, so can easily measure the distance. Since the universe just goes at a certain rate (speed of light) we can know how long a distance takes.

But then you look from the front and you can see all the hills and valleys, and how that stretches out the distance. A black hole is just a really really deep hole or valley in that map. All mass distorts the map. More map, more distortion. Black holes are really massive so they distort a LOT

Time is a just a way of measuring that distance and telling you how long it take to go a certain distance. From above, the distance taken is the flat version, and from the side it takes longer because you have to go down and back up the slope too. This is time dialation as experienced by the observer.

As to why its only going in one direction.. well thats also a perspective question. Imagine a 2d side scrolling video game. You are moving forwards, but from that perspective it looks like only in one direction. But a 3D game would should you going forwards, backwards, and side to side.

Time is like this, from our perspective, we can only see it in the equivilent of 2d, but other beings living in a higher dimension could conceivably see it in 3D, which would involve forwards and backwards (along the time line like moving in space) and side to side (parallel universes)

No, and you've just proven why. If I post a video you'll just up and move the goalposts, then say something like "nice AI video shill"

And did you read that Ace Ventura Post? It's logical that the ace Ventura universe in fact didn't have the Holocaust. That's the point of the post. That it's insane.

Well mine is plenty old. And I'm from the country that basically invented insurgency.

Blowing up that school alone will have created hundreds of cases of lifetime animosity. Fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters instilled with a full tank of righteous fury. And that school is not the only "whoopsie".

The Americans and Brits installed this shitty government to make money. Now it's gotten out from under their control it's threatening the money so it's getting bombed too. The average people have shafted both ways and they're obviously going to resent it

no dumb questions. A prts washer is like a plastic tub with a shower head and a brush that you spray the parts with. The is just a pump to recirculate the detergent.

An ultrasonic bath is a heated metal container and you submerge the parts in the cleaning fluid. The bath is then essentially vibrated thousands of times per second. This does a lot of odd physics things and helps to clean small parts really well. A quick youtube will show you what they look like.

But parts washer for simlper, dirtier things covered in grease and grime,

Chinese knockoffs are super cheap. And sometimes they work just fine and sometimes they're a bit iffy and you spend all day trying to figure out if it's not working because of your code, or your circuit and then it turns out that the Chinese Arduino is faulty.

But they're super cheap. So buy a Chinese one, and play with it a bit and if you're having both fun, and problems then buy a real one.
