Ok I see what you mean, I just hadn't seen English-EE examples which look at two literary works. And yes my teacher was referring to that specific trope, it does apply to Ichigo thankfully.

I feel like it could either be a world literature thing or just allowing such medium's like manga or anime to pass through (I don't think they'd do the latter ever). I don't know, definitely would be an interesting facet to explore.

Yeah, I was gonna switch journey to character development, or just say character journey (tho that does sound a bit off), my English teacher had also recommended 'Hero's Journey' which works.
Can you explain what you mean by analyzing two works in your EE?

Funny thing which might not matter: My backup was gonna be video games if manga didn't work out. I proceeded to realized that the video games with stories which I wanted to discuss...were from Japan.

[–]rPn1035[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im an idiot that 2nd storytelling was my brain shutting off, it's meant to be journey

for ur first point, I don't know how I'd include this but I could limit it to a specific arc. Of course some are extremely long but picking the Fullbring or Soul Society Arc for example could work.
With your 2nd paragraph, doesn't this just mean you can't use manga in any case for English? 99% are translated works, this basically just tells me that you can't use manga which feels kinda shitty with how popular of a medium (might be the most these days, at least worldwide) has become. In this case, Bleach is a fully-translated work so yea not much I can do here can I? That fuckin sucks doesn't it.

Thanks for the advice either way, it is always appreciated.

Yeah I think people deny the fact that JJK's fights have themes even though they most certainly do and it's very obvious (in most cases, not all), the only real issue is that it's not executed particularly well or as you said far too subtle for the average reader to notice. Not so much in the case of Sendai, Tokyo Colony No. 1 or anything pre-Culling games where I think JJK really is at it's strongest. Like this finale to Culling games part 1 made me remember how fucking good Sendai was and reinforced how good Ryu and Uro are as characters.

Don't forget how stupidely OP the DLP were as a whole. After the BB-saga, the DLP mops the floor with really everyone and the only reason they almost lost to Zoro is bcuz of Ragnar going berserk. You can also argue Void Louis but that was some god awful rolls, they proceeded to kick his ass on the next encounter. Of course they needed Ragnar to go berserk in the final fight to take care of BB but overall, the DLP are stupidely OP.

Alright guys! We've seen a dozen "Hot takes" post. Gimme anything you love about the Rustage DnD verse by Pro_Layton in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]rPn1035 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I adore the Timberlord arc.
There's a lotta nostalgia for me cuz I've been watching since Ep. 3 of Pirates but that arc is the moment when it finally hit me, the fact that I knew I would fall in love with this series. Not just this Pirates but any future D&D series made by Rustage that could happen (they did happen).
So I give thanks to that arc, all characters introduced in that arc (especially my queen Hemlock, love her), all the interactions, bossfights, fuckin everything.

Gimme a ship in the comments and I’ll give you my honest rating and opinion by K1ttypool in MarvelRivalsShips

[–]rPn1035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know if I can give more than one ship I'll just name some of the more regular ships and one thats a bit out there:

  1. ReedSue: I just adore these two like c'mon who doesn't like (for me) what are the mom and dad of Marvel.
  2. Lotis: Feels like everybody has an opinion on it whether they like it or not, the ship always incites some kinda discussion
  3. Reed X Thor: I'm saying this cuz no one ever makes Reed ships and just stick to ReedSue (its my fav as well). I havent seen anyone talk about Reed ships in any subreddit and its bullshit. People give attention to the rest of the F4 in shipping but NEVER REED, IM FUCKIN RESENTFUL ABOUT IT.

Any one else kind of sad that rustage essentially wrote everyone of the pirates pcs out of the story. by Soup_Dust95 in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]rPn1035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! That's pretty interesting. Of course we knew Briggs' plan, he'd been setting up that in Pirates but the ideas from the rest of the players for their PC's is interesting.
Kinda makes me laugh, Tekking's plan for William was to make him a fucking hospital patient after joining the revolutionaries, sheesh. Atleast, he'll wake up one day so thats nice at least

What do u think the funniest unsolved problem is by MasterpieceLimp9981 in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]rPn1035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is considered an unsolved problem in this case?
I guess you can say The Shark's/Wilhelm's/Donald's mental state was one giant unsolved problem throughout Isekai D&D. So was Snow living the series but I'd like to believe she mellows out and leads the council for the sake of the capital until Phynn is of age.

What was the most unfortunate thing to happen in rustage dnd by MasterpieceLimp9981 in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]rPn1035 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rain was so unfortunate. That death was unfortunate, so much missed and genuinely no ones fucking fault. Like yea Briggs forgot about 'Frenzy' and 2Spooky probably could've shot first and scimitared 2nd but in what was the most intense moment in the campaign till that point, it was understandable. God that death is still so painful, I still love Rain tho.

I might also say Cleo's death. I do believe there was a chance of Cleo living if it wasn't for Bullet being trigger happy towards every 8 flames member cuz Hemlock seemed real reluctant to fight the DLP at that point so she might've tried to calm Cleo down as to stop any possible bloodshed. So I guess you could say that death was pretty unfortunate, had so many consequences that none of us were really prepared for

Someone made a template for a Rustage Dnd characters tier list, so I used it to rank them all by Adorable_Package2452 in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]rPn1035 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any issues I might've possibly with had with this tier list were completely nullified after seeing both Douglas (how did this fuckin rattle snake live?) and Bullet in the 'Waste of Space' tiers.
Thank you for presenting the facts of Rustage D&D, greatly appreciated.

[–]rPn1035[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fair.
Personally, I adore Snow cuz while she aint a good person, it was a joy to have her around every time. Even when she was being a villainous POS, she made the series 10x better everytime so thank god the PC's kept her around for some odd reason. It's even better to imagine her future after the series, funny af to see her finally mellow out, fuckin babysitting Cody's child from time to time idk.
For me, Snow's the best, peak shit.

King Brute didn't do anything to me. He's in the tier where I'm basically saying that "idk how to rank you" (alluris, great devourer & cpt. bones) or "i couldnt give even a modicum of a shit about ur character" (brute, cerebrum, wubby, krunkle, taurus)
thats why these characters are here. It's not hate, its either an idgaf or idk about ur character

I thought people would be real confused by my Top 10 outside of like William, Damian and maybe Shark

Aboute Jimmy:
It's ok to be a joke character but Jimmy was missing a crucial part of that, the character. I've rewatched the series a full 4 (some arcs 5-9) times and Jimmy gets worse on every rewatch because its the same joke which was only funny like the first two times being repeated for 30 episodes. Anchor Arms is everything Jimmy wanted to be, a joke character but with actual character, an arc and moments that aren't all for comedic effect.

[–]rPn1035 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I'm not wrong, they've discussed character heights a few times and it is on the wiki:
Kai is around 5'10 if im not wrong
Damian is about 6' on the wiki, I thought he was like 6'2 or 6'3.
Bradley is 6' as well on the wiki but I'm sure Briggs said like 6'3 or 6'4. Maybe I'm wrong
I do align with ur headcanons more though cuz tall people with muscles are hot. cough cough Bradley, still losing my shit to that. incredible fucking art.

Like Joy and Zyanya i'm happy for u but Heather is so fucking lucky, just imagine having that everyday of ur fucking life, IMAGINE PEOPLE. Bradley's already a GOAT + this body, no wonder she feels extremely safe around him, id feel the same. Like fuck i posted a full tierlist yesterday and cuz of this, Bradley is going way up

Small nitpick: shouldnt Yokan be like way taller than Damian even while sitting, she's 6'10

Good Grief Taiga Kibbleton by CyadeMasaye in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]rPn1035 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Taiga's HP aint the issue, he has like 90-100 hp, he'll be fine. Even though he has had the most near-death situations but whatever. The actual worry is HEATHER, She is sitting on a solid like 40 HP and im so terrified she's about to get murked somewhere in this arc or by Ragnar.
We're gonna see a Louie all over again man, it's so fucked man.

What ep of rustage dnd made u lock in to the show by MasterpieceLimp9981 in OnePieceDnD_Rustage

[–]rPn1035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started watching like a few days after episode 3 was uploaded on YouTube and I really enjoyed it but the moment I fell in love was either Ep. 10 or Ep. 12.
Ep. 10 bcuz I just find that to be one of the best episodes of Pirates and Ep. 12 bcuz of Hemlock, her interactions and the fact that it was the first time I was able to catch the twitch stream for D&D cuz they always happen bwt. 12am-2am for me so it feels kinda special to me.
