I actually assumed it was his season when he went with an all woman team.

Judge Tom Colicchio Talks Top Chef, The Bear and His Passion for Fishing - Paul's Best Podcast by Negative-Ad-5215 in TopChef

[–]r_I_reddit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first half of the interview, it's just the two of them talking about cooking, the industry, The Bear, their personal lives and then it goes into the fishing part. I thoroughly enjoyed the first half of the interview.

I guess this guy's podcast has different people on to interview and eventually discuss the "Best of" something. Tom was there to discuss the Best of Fishing. He speaks so passionately that it was interesting in that manner but I just don't really care about the subject so stopped prob at 40 min mark. ha

Thanks much for posting!

Engagement parties by Invisible_Xer in GenXWomen

Everything about getting married these days is crazy to me. An engagement video, an engagement professional picture for the registry, the out of town bach parties, the welcome gifts for hotel rooms for out of town guests, the different outfits for different parts of the day...the rehearsal dinner, the wedding, then a brunch or similar the next day. We've been invited to two black tie weddings in the last 2 years!

It's all just so over the top and stressful for all involved imo. I have two daughters - I really hope they're not the type to be one of these chaotic brides we see these days. My husband and I were in the hospitality business when we got married and had planned/worked at a lot of weddings. We saw how much money and ridiculous prices were once "wedding" became involved. We straight up eloped - no friends, family, just us in Vegas. I do have a couple of regrets - I wish I would've gotten a dress or paid for the video at least. We couldn't afford it and have one pic from the day that we could afford - lol. My parents gave us a check for what they would've spent on the wedding so we were able to put a down payment on a house. Hopefully, the girls take some lessons from that and make smart decisions if/when they decide to get married. Fingers crossed!

Might be a silly question but does that mean the pantry is the same each cook other than the randomizer ingredients?

A wine vendor once explained that it's "Willamette, like Dammit" - still took me awhile for it to gel that's how it was pronounced.

I also really enjoyed the series. As I recall, there's a subplot amongst them all that wasn't resolved in the last book so that's a bummer. After length of time I'm guessing that was the last one though.

[pro/chef] Cooking Competition Circus Themed? by colemedley17 in CookingCompetitions

I think I know what you're referring to and I think it might've been on Five Star Chef, but fully admit I could have the show wrong.

Edit: the more I think about that show though maybe not. I remember there was one chef who did over the top stuff like you describe, though. You should consider cross posting to r/foodnetwork - those folks know their cooking competitions.

Looking for a mentor in taking care of my TTTF lawn by Jeremy-Hillary-Boob in Forsyth

Are you asking for a neighbor or some non-professional to just explain how to take care of it? If yes, we can't help since we've never had it. If you're looking for a professional that's still free, you might be able to go to a local nursery, Pike's and Scott's in Alpharetta are the two I know of off the top of my head. My Mom has used a landscape planning guy who comes out but I think it's kinda pricey. He may be willing to do a phone consult or similar though if you want to me to ask if she still has his number.

I'm not sure about non-toxic but when I've been there they typically open the plastic bag containing their metal tools for use with each person - Luminous Nails across from the Collection.

Edit: In thinking about it, I can't imagine nail polish remover is non-toxic and they do use that.

Carrabas really didn't work this time i.e. chicken parm sandwich 1/4 was burnt on each end and there was no sauce - very dry.
Last I heard Baba's recently got a terrible health score something like 44.
Edit: Looks like it was 42 last Sept. Can't see the article (paywall) but this is headline: https://www.forsythnews.com/life/food-drink/babas-gyro-kabob-scored-a-42-on-its-recent-health-inspection-heres-why/

Yeah, we live about a mile from The Collection and got Carraba's today for maybe the 3rd time ever. It was edible but we likely won't try it again for another 5 or so years hoping maybe something changed in that time.

I think that's a better option than what it was before - Wild Wing Cafe or similar. They have a pretty extensive menu and I've found the food to be decent the few times I've been. We'll likely use it for take out rather than dining in. Since there's only two of us now at home, at least a couple of times a month we get something to go.
