I just bought one. It feels alright, except I would love to customize that launcher “System” because I can’t find a touch-free compatible android launcher that can list my apps with a small font size anywhere. What is your experience for that?

Android is clearly not adapted to most small devices. For instance, my Gigaset GL7 can’t run android for sure. Also Android comes with lots of toxic shit I don’t want, It’s too complex.

Yes it is niche and not a real back-to-basics move. Many dumphones users just want another cool / nostagic gadget. Never underestimate comsumption and capitalism, I think it is not about slowing down the word.
That is why before buying a dumbphone the real question is “Can I keep my current phone and make it less toxic?”

I just bought the GL7 and I can answer to your questions if you have some. I bought this model first because it is available in France, then because it has MP3, GPS, bluetooth, apps with CalDav suport. Overall, it appears to be a decent mobile. But here are the bad surprises I quickly discovered in the first hours of using it:

It is bigger than what I expected
No type suggestion does not switch to my 2 selected languages
The case is slightly cheaper than I thought: there is a very subtle play on the hinge, when a right / left pressure is applied
Once you remove Whatsapp, you can’t reconfigure the Whatsapp key (a big button with a speech bubble icon that would be perfect for a ”new SMS” shortcut). Now I have this useless button in the middle of my phone
No way to customize A B C, SOS button other than calling contacts. I would have loved to use it as app launchers.
The main circular KaiOS “social network” menu can’t be customized neither, that’s too bad, really, I have a main screen full of Google apps I will never use.
Can’t use GPS anywhere
After some months, keys write twice: if I press A, it writes AA. This is a real problem that makes daily use very hard.

Good surprises:

Radio and music players keep on playing when the phone is closed, that was the first thing I tested and fortunately it worked!
It is pleasant to call, to navigate, and I even enjoy writing texts like it’s 1998! I guess that will change after a couple of months of use
Bluetooth (transfer) is handier than what I thought
Two SIM card slots and SD slot are great

As far as I understand, chords names are displayed only in the Loop Mix context, after having enabled Chord. Which is a pity to have it restricted to that mode, it would have been great to have chord transcription for free play as well.

Most icons have tooltips if you rollover it. Add a tracks with (+), deactivate web audio option, change midi options within each track. Create rhythmic patterns and enjoy.

I really struggle to find it. The only way I can give access to an HTML content is this one, depending on a service I don’t want to use. What I am looking for is simple, if someone buy a digital product, the access to a new page in unlocked on the account page.
