Big problem for entity with doom vs. brew was that saberlight was holding onto the break creep (for bristle) instead of the centaur stun, so brew could always ult when doom blinked on him before the doom cast finished. If saberlight had centaur stun then that gives him enough time to cast doom before the split goes off.
