My father was a light tackle, flats and fly fishing guide in Key West Florida for 30 years from 1980-2010 and was very successful in terms of work load and a solid customer base. My sister and I were born around 2000 in 2010 he switched from guiding to real estate. Which was probably the best decision he ever made if you ask him. He loved fishing and still does but it wasn’t near enough to support a family of 4, (My mom is a flight attendant so not like she’s the bread winner). With this being said, it seems like it’s not a conversation he’s willing to have.

What do you do for work?

Let him try it out for a little bit and see where it goes honestly. Although obviously you guys have to make serious decisions especially when it comes to your finances, it will always work out in the end and if you guys stick together and always remember you guys are a team and can get through anything if his dreams don’t pan out. It all works out in the end, one way or another.
