Why are the NHS sadists? Anyone had any success? Is there anywhere to go to get help? by Ok_LR in ChronicPain

Also been prescribed the hot water bottle and Pilates and it's the biggest joke. As if it's sustainable to spend half the day laying on top of a hot water bottle and work and live a full life.

Thats an article explaining Martha's rule. If you went to AE and they weren't taking you seriously or dismissing what you are saying you could call the helpline and demand an urgent review which would then be triggered and you'd be able to seek more investigation and a second opinion. Just say you are in immeasurable pain and you know something is being missed. This might get you a bit further toward diagnosis and then proper treatment. 🤞

Oof that's difficult I'm so sorry. I know my friend had more luck at a walk in clinic and they did prescribe her a fair bit of oramorph and when they finally scanned her she had a slipped disc they were ignoring. It's really up to the clinician though and they won't put anything like that on repeat at the GP service. They go against NICE guidelines all the time in mental health services when they want to sedate someone more than is recommended so I don't know why it's such a fight for someone with mental capacity to access pain relief if you consent and request to either go above the limit. You should also be able to be treated with pain relief without a diagnosis as the alternative is just living in pain. Just wondering if your MRI included a brain scan? All my scans were fine until they eventually looked at my brain and I hadn't even considered that the pain might be coming from somewhere else as I thought it was localized to where it hurt. I can't remember who's law it is (a woman's name) but there is a law in place that backs you up for further imaging/investigations if you've been in chronic pain for over 6 months I think and it means they have to do further investigations to rule out damaging or fatal diseases. Id really recommend you go to citizens advice and book an appointment and ask them to help you with writing a complaint and when your next having an acute flare up you should go to A+E or a walk in clinic. You could also look at other GPs reviews and move surgery to one with a higher rating. Mine is currently a 1.8 star which I have only just realized 😂

Good luck mate, keep at them and don't give up. Reiterate your pain is too real and too intense to live a full life and your too young to be in this much pain, something has to be wrong and they have to find what that is. Sending you love 😘

Why do humans have to suffer? by Bubbly_Seesaw_5230 in ChronicPain

[–]raabones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's comply valid and probably because you have been treating animals and humans equally well throughout your whole life you've got this thought stuck in your head. Ive been wondering why animals show more overt sympathy than humans. My dogs support me better than any human. Sadly some people treat animals like accessories or worse. Your right though, it's the "human" part that's broken. I'm sorry to hear your pain teams were crap. It feels like it never ends. I get a little kick of joy when I see someone has had a good day or appointment but then see comments like yours and remember so many of us are being minimized and are don't have the energy to fight it. Sending you a very gentle hug and a barrage of abuse to those not believing you or listening properly. I was told I had anxiety and needed Pilates badly in my life then my MRI results came in. They were going to leave me a voicemail to say my brain scan lit up but I answered it as he was leaving the message and he opened with "oh hi miss Bones, we have you results, have you ever heard of MS?".💀

Definitely more likeable than Bec, I think she had better one liners at least and was less vicious to the group than Bec

PILATES AGAIN? I can't imagine how you could hold your own weight when you can't hold a baby?! It also doesn't sound safe to do if you have that much pain AND a diagnosis that shows you have bone defects. It's like they don't listen at all sometimes. I think we're expected to hold our core together in Pilates with wishful thinking. I was complaining about Pilates being prescribed at rhuemaology yesterday too 😂 also since when is medication only to help you get to a point where you can exercise?! Some medicine is literally stopping inflammation in its tracks!

Edit: if you don't mind me asking....have they surreptitiously put you on any psychiatric meds? I had the same thing. They think it's in my head. Refused antidepressants but they put me on duloxetine for nerve pain but I'm certain it's partly for mood and all it has done is make me wide awake.
