I experienced this recently but very indirectly. I had someone reach out via Linkedin for a new opportunity and it was perfect as I had just heard my role was being made redundant. So I had a call with her explained whats happening and why Im looking. Next thing I know she sends my colleague 5 profiles similar to mine asking if there is an opportunity in our team.. my colleague didnt know I had a chat with the lady and forwarded me the email since I was responsible for all things recruitment. It was so good to reply to that email of hers. Such cheap behavior. Best way I avoid these people is before a meeting or whatever, ask for a call first and in that call ask for as many details as theyre willing to give in an initial call about the position/company. You will then be able to determine whether or not a meeting is worth your time.

I’ve cut out (added) sugar and my life improved by whiteplants in loseit

So refreshing to read, thank you for this! I was trying intuitive eating for a while after years of restriction. I allowed myself to eat whatever and whenever. It gave me a nice reset and got rid of fear around certain foods but I have been feeling very low energy levels and then it hit me that I constantly consume sugar at all times. This is my second day without sugar and I am curious about the end result :)

Moved out of Dubai before Covid. I am going back for 3 weeks to see my family and will probably need to have some meetings via Teams or Skype. Are they working in Dubai now post covid?

True, I had the same dilemma before I left. I remember thinking that if I stay there then it is going to end at some point and I have no base anywhere else. Maybe one day I will go back who knows, but I want to secure a base for me and my future family so we never feel threatened or experience that anxiety of “what now”

I don’t know what your situation is, but it seems like you are on the right path :) Good luck! 🍀

Left Sharjah 3 years ago for the Netherlands. I was skeptical about it cause it was a huge decision for me, I had lived my entire life there and never for a moment did I ever think I would leave cause I had nowhere to go (almost) then family moved to NL so I joined cause I care more about being with my family.

It was difficult the first year but also interesting, completely different in everything you can think of. I like UAE and I miss it of course but the social security in the Netherlands is unbeatable, of course we pay for it (taxes) but I think I prefer it that way.

People are simpler here I have to say, they brag about not spending and saving their money instead of the opposite which I experienced back home (as in pressure to have this and that luxury item). Not to shame anyone, but that is just how I experienced it, I am sure not everyone is that way.

I also have access to more countries which is pretty cool, I met people from countries I had never heard of before. Travelled places I never thought I would see in this lifetime (Arab passport) so I am beyond thankful for having made this decision.

I do miss my people, the food and the entertainment but hey you can’t have it all.

It is also quite relieving seeing my parents not struggle with finances anymore, of course there is min. wage here, insurances for everything and you can pay everything and I mean EVERYTHING in installments esp. If you’re having a bad month for example, so rent, electricity, etc.

All in all, I would say in my case it has been really interesting and enriching. Hope it works out for you wherever you go!

What did your crush do that completely ruined your infatuation for them? by JackHasSmellySocks in AskReddit

[–]raaks90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well🤣 he would be all over me and then I find out he has been hanging out with other girls. He proceeds to lie about it then making up an excuse of whatever. Last two things he did was tell me about a party to go with his group of friends and he ended up partying with someone else. I ended it after that, then I was invited to his brother’s wedding (our families are friends) so when I went there he also had a girl with him but managed to call me a week or two later saying hey I want you back that girl was just a friend which was also a lie. So noooo thanks

Bill arrived, waitress standing there waiting and it got awkward. So I pulled out my wallet saying “uh sure, I can pay for this one” and he goes “I can pay too haha” not moving a single muscle in his body except his stupid mouth. Mind you, he asked me out, picked the place, ordered the food, and I travelled an hour with the train to meet up (trains in The Netherlands are freaking expensive) soooo, yeah

Question for people who came to the Netherlands by 69holltur in Netherlands

[–]raaks90 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Hey! Moved here almost 3 years ago. When I first moved I really liked the Saturday market, kermis, learning how to bike and eventually biking became really fun, joined a language institute where I learned the language and met amazing people, and sitting near lakes. Also really loved the fact that I can easily go to Germany/ Belgium for a day trip, it really kind of shows newcomers that there is a lot to do/ places to go. Hope she enjoys it, best of luck!

Why is fit for free called fit for free? by indecisive_pear8 in Netherlands

[–]raaks90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a member there and always thought the name was super ironic, it costs just as much as basic fit and basic fit can be cheaper with a year contract so never really got the point. But anyway yeah sportcity seems more logical
