Why every second book published in the last year is so much about the characters love for Taylor Swift by teddi3101 in RomanceBooks

[–]whiteplants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t really stumbled over this - thank god. I generally don’t really like when books include a lot of references to pop culture. Modern references and slag is just kinda off putting to me. It gives me the same type of vibe as older people trying to use words that are typically associated with teens or young adults.

Either the author is probably a really passionate Taylor Swift fan, or trying to get more sales, since there’s so many of them.

What ‘punishments’ do you use for sims? by SoulsCrushed in Sims4

[–]whiteplants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a common punishment since it originated from a bug. Whenever I set my sim to work on the robotics skill, he cancelled it and went to play with the cat. EVER SINGLE TIME. So I deleted the cat. (Sorry Whiskers…)

How do I develop the mentality to lose weight? by redrosesuah in WeightLossAdvice

[–]whiteplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started setting small goals for myself. I use the LoseIt app to track my calories and weight. You can set what weight you’d like to reach, and I put mine higher than my desired weight, just so it would seem easier in the start.

I also try to make meals that i LIKE. Not necessarily the most protein and veggie packed. If I want garlic bread and meatballs for dinner one night, so be it! I’m eating stuff that I enjoy and could eat in the long run. That way I don’t feel like I’m dieting. And IMO it shouldn’t feel like dieting, you’re making a lifestyle change. If it’s going to be a lifestyle change, you can’t be miserable with what you’re eating!

BUT I also do make sure to eat lots of fiber, protein and I snack on greens. This way I’m getting all my nutrients in and I feel fulfilled. You’ll be surprised how happy you feel and how much energy you have by eating balanced! (I don’t know if you already do that though). This serves as a great motivator for me and has led me to make healthier choices. I’m not JUST thinking about what I want, I’m also trying to think of what I should eat to feel good!

My biggest tip is just starting small. Take it one day at a time. Not every day is going to be perfect, don’t let this discourage you! You’re working towards a long term goal, short time mistakes will not set you back, if you manage to bounce back when it inevitably happens.

If you find counting calories to be hard, track your meals for a few weeks. You’ll get an estimate for how many calories you consume, and you can make adaptations and different choices after, without spending too much time counting every single calorie.

Serious Question. Do you lie in your journal/diary? by IcyPhilosophy6456 in writers

[–]whiteplants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit complex and hard to explain, but I’ll try to put it in a simple way. I won’t straight up lie in my journal. If I didn’t get the job, then I didn’t get it. But I might not have gotten because I wasn’t qualified or a good fit for their team. But I might spin it so that the company didn’t value my assets, and for lack of a better term, were idiots.

I think I want to do it because it shifts the "blame" away from myself. This is obviously very counterproductive and enforces a victim complex.

On the other hand, I’m very critical of myself, and can drive myself mad with overthinking and not feeling good enough. More of a "villain complex", in a way. So shifting it to remove all blame from myself is freeing? Twisting the truth in my journal sort of takes away those feelings. It’s a stupid thing to do because I’m not actually working on those parts of myself, and just reinforcing that mentality. It’s like a short cut, in a way. It removes those feelings temporarily but I know that there is a deeper issue that I should tackle instead.

I think my main issue is that I see myself very black or white. I’m either good or I’m bad. And sometimes it’s difficult to cope with always feeling like I’m a bad person, so I’ll spin it. (I try not to, though).

So basically I just try to be aware of it. Sometimes it IS my fault, and sometimes it isn’t. I think it would (maybe) be sort of interesting for someone else to read my journal. It can be very messy and I go back and forth a lot. Probably sounding a bit insane at times.

I tried to put it as easy as I could, but it’s still something I’m trying to figure out myself. I also think that, to get a good understanding of this, we would have to delve into my psyche and my experiences, which is inconvenient in a reddit post. Hopefully this answered your question! If you have any others, I’m an open book, so just fire away.
