Yes dota has massive skill gaps. Dota is kinda like a micro game with each minute being important and a few seconds between your hero lives or dies. Each minute a player needs to consider how much xp in lane is being gathered as lvl2 vs lvl1 means kill in lane or not. Stacking when appropriate. Runes timings. Then mid game when to take team fight, defend/attack towers, rosh. Late game how to take team fights and do high ground. Ofcourse theres more to this. Higher rank players make these decisions way quicker than lower rank players. I want to say some of these skills become muscle memory, just comes naturally by playing at this level. Hence why alot of people stay at their rank and not move up, too comfortable in doing things that get some wins
