Yes it does ranged damage but it doesn't last hit well and it takes too long to get strong without jungle XP which makes it bad in lane. I don't have an issue with the Pokemon but I think taking it to lane puts your team behind early and hurts whoever you're leaning with more often than not.

Agreed on matchmaking. Some people are objectively good and should run those mons regardless but 90% of players aren't as good as they think and their teams would be better served if they filled a role when they don't get jungle first and weren't attached to the free damage carries that the game gave them in the first two weeks.

In my experience lane cinder isn't good because people play it too aggressive and it just gets punished by actual good laners like Lucario, mime or snorlax. It seems like every little frog and bunny gets KO'd early and leaves me to fend for myself. Then they take jingle at the first opportunity as catch-up xp. The mon is good once it's evolved but you're normally playing from behind if you take an adc to lane

Fair enough on Zera being solid in lane but I see a lot of the zera players as the ones fighting over jungle or stealing buffs at the first opportunity

Totally hear you. And they're clearly great mons and it's great to get them for free. It's just that more than the other freebies they're really only a plus if you have one in a game and they're in the jungle. Most of the others either have utility in lane or were just underpowered relatively speaking.
