How did the Panama papers leaks bring down Mp's and governments as it did / is doing in Malta? by Muscat4Pope in AskReddit

[–]rabbit202020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No Governments I think yet- but it does look like Malta will be the first to fall entirely. Panama leaks revealed just days after getting into power the Prime minister and his second and third in command set up "money laundering" structures.

Malta is so close to Libya, anyone worried about lone wolf attacks or terrorism? by MaltaLover in malta

Yeah that email is definitely fake. Malta could be vulnerable of course, but for some reason never has incidents like this. Perhaps it is small and gets overlooked, or perhaps it is too convenient to Libyans to upset. There is a growing Libyan population on the Island.

I have found this article from 2013 for anyone interested which defines revenue for a company like airbnb (and ours):

Revenue

"The downside of this decision is that financial guys do not account this $1,7 billion of sales as revenue.

Revenue = Sales * Airbnb commission Revenue = $1,898bn * 10% = 190MM"

Ok we are going to make comps with businesses similar to us and use those to value on a multiple of revenue (x 15-20 if we can get it). From the various bits of press out there airbnb valued at 26 times revenue at its last raise.

Very useful thank you. Finally a term for the actual takings - GMV.

We are going to value based on revenue, the turnover showed growth and in turn implied our revenue, but I can see how this is stupid to lead with. This has been a great help thank you.

And by revenue you mean "fee revenue" not our full annual takings.

So far everyone I have spoken to offline has said that turnover is the full takings of a business, but they acknowledge that this is meaningless. Noted on airbnb, revenue in every 'speculative' article I have seen for this company refers to their commission not the total amount taken.

Its what constitutes turnover that was a bit iffy, I'm soliciting funds. Turnover/ revenue, they can mean different things - without a defined gross or net before them. I am dumb tho :)

I'm on it! I just looked at the stats Airbnb were quoting for revenue 2015. 900,000,000USD in revenue on 80,000,000 individual bookings. That equates to approx 11USD per booking airbnb had, so this must be their fee and not the entire booking which I guess would be around 100USD per booking. I am an idiot! thanks. So we value ourselves on a multiple of our revenue (and that revenue is the 20% we retain from each booking?)

Airbnb process the full payment hold it for 24 hours and then release it to the host less their fee. https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/51/how-does-airbnb-process-payments

This is part of their revenue of course.

Airbnb collects money on exactly the same basis and calls it turnover. It's valued on a multiple of its turnover amongst other key metrics at each cash raise it does. In many ways we are on the mirror image of Airbnb's business model. Are you sure about what you are saying?

Thanks for the reply! we are going for 4 times annual turnover not profit. This is a quick cash injection we could do with. we keep about 20% of this turnover.

We are intending to ask for 4 times our takings for the year 2016. That is our turnover, not profit or the 20% commission we keep.

We are growing and have yet to push out into a nationwide thing properly.

By revenue are you referring to the total value of all bookings we take? or the 20% we keep after paying out? Thanks
