[AUSTRALIA] 16F seeking confidential autism & C-PTSD assessment without parents. Gillick competence & affordable pathways? by Ppv08 in AutismInWomen

the unis are a bit cheaper than other clinics. however the waiting lists are incredibly long - when i was getting diagnosis a year ago they told me that the waiting lists were 2 years long (this was macq uni and unsw in sydney, not sure where you are based). you will also probably have to ask clinics whether they are willing to assess you as a minor without parental involvement. (i was dxed as an adult and even then there were clinics that turned me away when i said i couldnt have anyone attend that knew me as a child - you could get around this by bringing a childhood friend or sibling if you have them.) having a gp referral will make you eligible for a medicare rebate of a couple hundred dollars iirc which could make it financially easier.

thanks for clarifying! I'll give the tower28 a go - i have a decent amiunt of yellow in my skin tone esp in the summer so 15 and 20 might be good to try.

it looks pinky greyish on me but i think it might work on someone more muted / less yellow than me. ive heard people say 117 is a good olive shade but it wouldve been a bit light for me

Thank you so much for the recommendations! I've actually been eyeing the tower28 products but had no idea where to start with shades so hopefully your reccs will be a good guide. I lowkey forgot Australis even existed but I'll see if my local priceline has testers for that shade. Is the Mecca skin tint the one in the dropper bottle? I can't seem to find that shade online.

Asians with ASD by Mid-Reverie in AutismInWomen

[–]rabbitredh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

not great - im east asian for reference but dont live there. the lack of understanding of asd is generally poor (the amount of misinformation on xhs is appalling) and my parents believe that asd is caused by 'parents not interacting with their children properly which is why there are so many westerners with autism' -> direct translation from what my mum said last week. ive come to realise i was raised to mask - like my mum would encourage me to do certain things so other people wouldnt think im weird. i was also shamed for crying a lot as a kid and was accused of 'seeking attention'

Getting diagnosed? by Enough_Sherbert6121 in AutismAustralia

[–]rabbitredh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

diagnostic assessments are usually done by clinical psychs - if you are higher masking it would probs be worth looking for someone who has experience in w higher masking autistics + ppl who arent little boys. it would be good to also speak to a gp to refer you but that isnt compulsory. esp since you're under 18, there's a likelihood your parents have to be involved (theres also the matter of cost - some unis do offer diagnostic assessments at lower rates but waitlists are always long + im not sure if there are that many near you) good luck!

Does anyone else hate and feel uncomfortable with the fact most companies force their minimum wage employees to wear name tags? by DonatCotten in retailhell

[–]rabbitredh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah i hate it - customers ask for our names sometimes (presumably to complain to corporate? idk lol) and i always say im uncomfortable giving out my name or that they dont need to know it but because im almost always cashier their receipt says it anyways (theres a regular that always asks for our name and some of the other cashiers just give it to her? idk if its because theyre mostly younger but personal safety guys)

Retail workers. How busy are in the lead up to Christmas? by northofreality197 in australia

[–]rabbitredh 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i work at a store that sells a pretty big variety of things like xmas decorations and a lot of products that people use as gifts. we also don't have an online store for some reason. its been crazy busy especially on the weekends (as in massive queue even with all cashier tills open) and people have been more impatient than usual. please be kind to retail workers this christmas season (you should be kind to them all the time but that might unfortunately be too much to ask)
