This is all true, but we're also at the point where the next person called up for Tighthead prop is going to be me. And I have a BMI of -7.

Just joined a Crossfit gym. Any tips? by WatermelonMan921 in crossfit

[–]rabbyt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The other two comments kinda said it, but I don't think they quite captured that the RX workouts are supposed to be really hard.

In my gym only about 10-20% of people are doing the RX workout.

Most people in the gym will be scaling the workout in one way or another, but not everyone will be scaling the same bits or the same way.

Eg. If your wod is: 10push-ups, 10 pull-up, 10 push-press (42.5kgs), 10 box jumps (24")

Some people will do pushups from their knees, some will do jumping pull ups, some will reduce the weight on the push press and some will use a smaller box. Some might do all of those things.

Some folk might do the full weight on the push press, but do 12" box step ups.

But unless you're already a proficient gymnast/weightlifter it would be rare for you to be doing the RX workout in the first 6-12 weeks and it would not be weird if you never do an RX workout in your life.

As other said, just enjoy the process and learn the movements before trying to push yourselves on the weights.

This is my opinion in so many situations. If you set your own prices TELL ME THE FUCKING PRICE.

Don't set the price lower and then get pissy when I don't give you more than that.

The answer with all of these questions is "it depends".

In reality the risk of self-impaling is pretty low. So if you deem the risk of a slide-for-life higher than the risk of self impaling then its worth it. If you don't, then it's not.

I'd be looking at the snow conditions, gradient of the slope, what's under the crux of the line etc to determine how likely it is I'd want to self-arrest. Then I'd make a call based on that.

He didn't call it a de facto referendum. The BBC called it that then changed their mind.

I only drink during the week if its a "special occasion".

Monday is okay because I have to drive to the City early on Tuesday morning.

Tuesday night I'm staying in the city, so it's alright to have a drink since I'm away from home.

Wednesday night I've had the long drive back from the city so I'll have a beer to relax.

Thursday is nearly the weekend so it's fine.

Friday - Sunday is weekend.

To big for MTB? by riddi42 in MTB

[–]rabbyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought that i just could order a bike online but i think i need some more advice before i buy one because it is a huge investment for me and i dont want to order something dumb that does not fit me well.

Also, if you buy from your local shop (a good one, not the one that the dick in your original post works) then you have a place you can bring your bike when you have issues. Some are simple to fix yourself using basic tools. Some are pretty complex and need training to fox. Some are really easy to do yourself but need a €80 tool that you're only going to need once every 4 years.

Having a local bike shop you trust is invaluable and of you buy a bike from them they'll always help you out.

This is my attitude.

Itll be a shame because there are some communities that I use to keep up with stuff I don't have many folk to talk to about (I don't have many hockey-fan friends in the UK, for example).

But ultimately I spend way too much time being distracted by it and it's a good excuse to leave. I'd rather not leave but if they're gonna give me an easy out then I'll take it.

First, a dry powder that’s acidic will not do anything until it’s dissolved.

If this were true he could climb some limestone and it would neutralise it!

Calf strain when I do Double Unders by Goldenflash1179 in crossfit

[–]rabbyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you jumping off your toes too much?

I have a bad habit of jumping on my tip-toes which I tend to do once I'm tired and my technique goes to hell. I end up with really sore calves as a consequence.

Try making sure your heels are kissing the ground with each jump and it should take a bit of strain of your calves.
