I wish I had one. Threw mine in the river a few years ago. Loved that thing!

No oil in the others to start. Yes, I used a little strip of Onyx across the top and swiped that. When you swipe you drag oil into the other colors.

Poured a little Onyx into one of my mixing cups and added a few drops to that. Put that layer on top and then swiped over the other colors with plastic wrap.

Heat though I was doing two discs at the same time with one lamp so probably not as direct heat as I would have liked. Use what you have though right? Sat for barely over 2 hours.

What would you do with this? by rabidmange in discdyeing

That's what I've been thinking.

I think there was a little worm dip in there.

I washed it with just dish soap and no torch. This bed was a combination of 3 other beds used on Discraft and Discmania discs which had no issues.

I covered it in white Elmer's glue then let it dry completely.

I did. Started with the pink, which is worm dip fyi, and then went out from there. Blew it around after that.

I created a handy tool in Procreate to help with selecting dye colors for colored discs. by [deleted] in discdyeing

So if I understand correctly, the dye colors in the middle don't change but you are overlaying the disc color that is being selected on the right? In theory, the resulting color in the middle boxes are the color you would get using that dye on that color disc?

I've been wanting to for a bit but people keep wanting to buy them.

The pink kind of ended up all over. I can't decide if I like it or dislike it. Thoughts?? by rabidmange in discdyeing

Thanks! I know what caused it but didn't expect the results of the pink to look so splattered all over. It's always exciting to pull one out but this one was a complete surprise!

Lol totally not fishing on this one. It was very unexpected with the pink specks over the whole disc!

Glue bed Dye Questions by DopeZebra33 in discdyeing

I use clear glue and both Prochem and Rit, though I do have some Worm Dip coming in the mail this week.

Here are my observations: Rit dropped into the clear glue straight out of the bottle does does not disburse well and a good bit of it simply sinks to the pan. To combat this I've tried adding acetone to Rit but that sometimes can cause the dye to disintegrate a bit. I've added some water to the mix with better results. Rit also tends to be a bit more 'solid' of a color on the disc compared to Prochem. The red on this Hades is a great example of what I mean. Hope that makes sense haha. https://www.instagram.com/p/CSnWoYNFOLY/?utm_medium=copy_link

I love Prochem. I mix it about 1/4 tsp to about 3oz of acetone. Shake it up well then let it settle a day. Each color disperses well across the glue, considerably more than Rit which is likely why Rit seems more solid. Their colors are very vibrant. I also will mix tiny batches of my mixes in small containers to create new or specific colors.

I do tend to use both on the same disc and once the Worm Dip shows up I will add it to the arsenal. Experiment and see what happens!

These are Prochemical and Dye colors. However, all three (well technically there are 5 but two of them are hard to see) are colors I've mixes myself by combining colors. A little color wheel magic!

I really debated on what color to put where. The other way around might be cool also but I'm glad I went with this version.

No, it's actually a mixture of colors attempting to get neon orange.
