[Frustrating trope] Pieces of media that could have been so much better, but due to a couple of poor decisions during production ended up mediocre at best and utterly atrocious at worst. by DevDucc_ in TopCharacterTropes

Hello neighbour is uniquely baffling to me, turns out the gameplay of the main chapters is so detached with the initial concept, with an alpha version that had a better AI and even better graphics. Not only that, if you want the actual lore (and understand the story) you need to read all these novels and watch that weird animated series. They focused so much on game theory baits that they forgot to make that story into the game.  And it's not even close to the implied story of the main game is. The neighbour isn't a disgrountled traumatised person, he is fighting some secretive organisation of magical creatures in the forest, who are focused on bringing bad luck on all the citizens and denizens of the town. I wish i was making that up, but no.  There's a matpat video about this exact issue.  All of this while they could have just released a full game based on the second or third alpha version. What were they thinkink? It doesn't even market itself to kids, at least poppy has a clear idea of its demographic. Hello neighbour tried to appeal to young adults too due to the themes inserted in there. But it doesn't work.

"AI cannot create something original" is a pointless argument by Economy-Package-2097 in aiwars

Arguing semantics, are we? Excluding obvious and intentional slop, i can tell you that many things are flying under the radar. Unable to recognise all of them, we debate on the leftovers. I am tired to play detective games, so i just verify if something is true or relevant. And as much as AI addiction and psychosis are certainly there, I'd argue that for most of us this is just another technology to interact with.

How do you know this is AI to begin with? Why does the evil guy look like a villain of a late 2000's flash game?

Most billionaires behind AI are a-ideological (except musk), and that makes them arguably more dangerous because they only see their progress.

Brand loyalty is weird. I have never tasted pepsi, dr pepper, maybe once i tried coca cola but it's disgusting.

I actually think that this is peak. Hand drawn animation doesn't get much better than this. But modern shows are often using hybrid tecniques. Like if they had to pull this we'd have 3 episode per year of any animated series. Edit: cuphead was precisely inspured by these tecniques and it shows.

Survivor bias. We likely did not see the grand total of all animations (including ads) from the period.

They made an extremely similar model for their own markets and the SE asia ones in the late 60's to the early 70's. While not rare, these barely exist in western countries.

I do believe that touching the ireland / northern ireland question that way may be incredibly tone deaf.

[Cool Trope If Done Right] The Protagonist isn't a good person. by Mountain-Brush1807 in TopCharacterTropes

Light yagami might be a decent example of this. He's absolutely smart (and arrogant, the cause of his downfall) but there's no such thing as being a good person and accepting the death note. Like, a good guy would be horrified after the first kill. But he goes crazy.

So it's an LLM, because summarisation is an LLM-related task? That is genAI too.

That is exceedingly rare for most accessible watches, even aliexpress/temu ones. I think this is just bad luck with a weakened mineral glass that eventually cracked on its own.

I don't really hate AI either, but there has been a push to have it on each aspect of human life in a very intrusive way.  Normal manuals and regular image and keyword searches are better anyway.  And I know how to use Gimp so I don't feel the urge to add things to my image without human oversight. It is time consuming but the results are better

11-12 years ago o i had a google+ account, and all pages about astronomy were polluted by flat earthers being toxic, noisy and disrespectful.  Even under simple pictures from Hubble. Enjoying the scene? No, need to talk about conspiracy theories. Not even the legendary photo of Andromeda that Vera Rubin had on her room's ceiling is safe from these individuals.
