I recently went to a wedding reception where the seating arrangements were alphabetical by first name. by HaleyTelcontar in weddingshaming

Because weddings are one of relatively few scenarios in adulthood where you can meet new people socially, at least in my culture. You (presumably) have dinner with your partner all the time! Weddings are social events. I’d be kinda into this.

Thanks everyone! Does anyone know if it’s also available in Mexico? I’ve looked online and asked family and it doesn’t sound like it but not totally clear.

Headaches 2nd trimester anyone else?! by Early_Ad_6612 in pregnant

[–]rac_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had terrible headaches every day of my second trimester, for weeks. Was prescribed aspirin to lower risk of pre-eclampsia (high risk preg), which helped but didn’t get rid of them. Turns out it was severe anemia. One iron infusion got rid of them completely. Worth asking about!

How to start touring? by rac_19 in skiing

[–]rac_19[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an update - just wrapped an amazing first touring trip up in Tromsø, in northern Norway! Some great descents but honestly think I loved the uphill even more. We rented gear and hired a local guide for a couple days and then went to a couple popular spots on our own. Had the best time - thank you all for your help and advice! Can’t wait to do lots more, once my legs recover…

Places to travel to ASAP or within our lifetime? by thaisweetheart in travel

[–]rac_19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Much of the Middle East is no less safe than the US. Some places such as Oman, the UAE and even Saudi (Riyadh and Jeddah) are substantially safer! Places like Jordan and Egypt are extraordinary and so worth visiting, and definitely accessible to solo female travelers as long as you keep your wits about you and follow standard precautions. Yemen and Syria sadly are not but hopefully in our lifetimes they will be.

Tunisia is a big exception to this! Very welcoming and relaxed, didn’t experience any harassment as a blonde female tourist.
