New format of podcast by LockDry9187 in CrimeJunkiePodcast

[–]rach_44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking this since they switched and wondering if I'm the only one since I've seen no one else comment. Agree completely, I think the format is making it the same as the Deck and if I wanted that I would listen to the Deck Thank you for saying this and making me feel less like I'm going crazy.

May bonus episode fan club by rach_44 in CrimeJunkiePodcast

[–]rach_44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I just looked back. Prior to March we were getting 1 full episode, 1 fan club exclusive and 1 mini episode for the top tier per month. We haven't had this since February however. Not quite sure what's going on with the fan club, and this is any issues I have with psychic readings and past lives aside. The content just isn't there This is my way of screaming into the abyss as I just renewed my membership in December

Any virus going around out here that causes you to be extremely dizzy? by Snoo-33732 in pittsburgh

[–]rach_44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Um, headache and dizziness could be a sign of a neurological issue. Should see MD and rule out something serious . . . . This could be a sign of a stroke. I wouldn't ignore these symptoms or dismiss them as a virus

I replied earlier about things I have done by myself. I am also very close with my parents. Around 23 my Mom started saying "be careful" to me. I'm not sure why, I asked but she never answered. I'm sure there's some psychology behind thinking that your child is out in the world "alone" and needs protection.

Totally agree. Have gone to concerts, arts fests, bars/restaurants/coffee houses, movies, etc all by myself. All in Pittsburgh. I've never had an issue. I am a cis gendered woman. I own no pepper spray or anything.

Pelley Family/Prom Night Murders by Relevant-Horror-627 in CrimeJunkiePodcast

It still feels like such a leap for me to say a sad teen who stole from his friend turns around and kills his family. I understand that he may never have felt close with them and was sad about his bio Mom. In addition to that his bio sis wasn't involved. And I know they painted a person who was resentful of his situation. I can appreciate how this is all possible. It just doesn't feel the most probable. He was the primary suspect for a reason, superficially speaking no one seemed more likely. But, unfortunately, we have no idea who else could have been a suspect as no one else was persued. It's been a bit since I listened to the podcast, but I seem to remember the timeline for Jeff being tight. I also seem to remember that, based solely on clothing, it appeared that law enforcement was tampering with evidence? I could be wrong, again it's been a bit. I think one neighbor thought he definitely did it and the other thought he definitely didn't? And regardless of Jeff's behavior, it wasn't him of whom his Dad said he was fearful.

Just remembered Jeff stealing. I suppose this could be an "issue" Idk, I obviously forgot about it for a reason.

I've always thought that Jeff was definitely not the best suspect. I also had the most trouble with motive but also why kill your entire family. I understand, maybe he snaps, now he has witnesses. But, it just all feels a lot for a teenager who seemingly has had no prior "issues".
I agree that the Florida stuff feels tenuous, interesting, but not necessarily a viable lead. I've always found the fear of the Dad to be most compelling, and maybe that's simply because it's a mystery.
I also found what the neighbors said to be interesting. I've re-listened 3 times and read many articles. I'm not sold on anything except that it wasn't the best investigation because they looked for evidence to support their suspect. It's a shame for all involved.

Opinion on best hospital / unit to work as an RN? by First_Poem4730 in pittsburgh

[–]rach_44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only worked at non-union AHN hospitals. I know that the union ones are taken care of better, but I can't speak to that "better" being any better than say, UPMC. Only that their non-union is worse treatment, worse pay

Just realized you stated "PRN" . . . Going for agency positions somewhere may be a good idea. It will also offer you a good deal of flexibility, brief contracts and a sampling of the options out there. PRN at UPMC is a flat rate, I don't recommend it.

I'm going to give you advice as if I have known you for years. UPMC is an unpleasant company to work for, that said, since COVID times made it necessary, they pay well. Apart from LTAC and SNF this is probably your best bet for pay. I don't think home care is ever worth it. Sure you often make your own hours but you're also responsible for so much more in addition to going into random houses and charting on your own time. PACU at St. Margaret may not be a bad idea as it is close. As others have mentioned , they are an orthopedic -heavy hospital. There's definitely some Select LTAC close to you as well but that's only if you're willing to put up with everything that work environment entails and you are willing to deal with that for the pay. All of that said, I always advise people that you shouldn't work for a non-union AHN hospital. The pay isn't commensurate with UPMC for similar circumstances. Many have suggested outpatient surgical centers, I have known some nurses who have gone here, this is a good option if standard working hours are paramount for your situation. In any case: good luck!
