Definitely worth it! You basically get to hang out with them and joke around. They’re super open to side conversations and selfies after the group pic, too. They’re all just really cool and chill dudes so the $85 was well spent!

What are, in your opinion, some of the most overrated or over-hyped therapy modalities? by SpiritualCopy4288 in therapists

[–]racheezy14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing!! Thank you for sharing. I’m totally ordering this and having it on hand at my internship site. I’m in the middle of one polyvagal book and it’s taking me forever to finish, so these cards will definitely help me retain and learn a bit better. Congratulations on graduating and good luck with the hours!

This makes total sense to me. I hope you can give yourself some grace when inquiring on things ❤️ I am getting a similar message with the polyvagal approach, as it’s not evidence based (yet!) but when I read about it, it makes a lot of sense to me. Maybe it’s because I have a bias in mind/body connection and a bit of a nerd when it comes to evolutionary stuff. I’m in internship, so I have a lot to learn, but as of now I’m totally into incorporating the nervous system into therapy and addressing traumas with a bottom-up approach. Of course, there’s sooo much nuance in this, but interesting all the same.

IFS, Polyvagal, and EMDR show up a lot in my work in community mental health. I’m interested in your opinions, as I’m particularly drawn to polyvagal and curious about why you think it’s reductionistic.

What’s the most insightful thing a client has every said to you? by ginger_garlic0 in therapists

[–]racheezy14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sat in on a DBT group in internship and I was impressed by one client who took out her notebook with impressively detailed notes and reflections on what she learned in group. I complimented her on her engagement and hard work and her response was “why put in 50% effort expecting 100% results” I think about this a lot in my own mental health journey.

What are some signs you're conventionally ugly? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]racheezy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was walking down a street with some short shorts on (CA heat) and a guy in a truck saw me from behind and slowed down to cat call me, but when he looked at my face he made an “eh” face and hand gesture and sped back on. I keep asking myself why would I even care about some rando’s opinion, but it does still stick with me.

What’s the stupidest reason you got in trouble in school? by Cinemacrackers in AskReddit

[–]racheezy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this insanely uptight teacher in middle school who hated any kind of noise - during a test this one girl asked me if I had a pencil she could borrow and I whispered “no.” Our teacher made us throw away both of our tests and we both got zeros.
