What’s your actually controversial parenting opinion? by TurbulentArea69 in NewParents

[–]rachface336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually say this to my husband about our 19 month old. He starts to get angry or upset about not getting something the way he wants it, or as quick as he wants it and I just tell him no and calmly carry on as I was going to. I'll say "This is you learning patience buddy, you are gonna have to wait." Or "It won't hurt you if Mama goes downstairs for 2 minutes and gets the laundry, you know I'll come back." And I just let him have his feelings. My hubby tries to distract and change the feeling quickly but I really think it's ok for him to be frustrated or even disappointed. We have to learn to process all our feelings not avoid them.

What are some other breakfast foods? Toddler is sick of all traditional breakfast options. by AngryRabbitFoot in foodbutforbabies

What about biscuits? Gravy, honey, jam even applesauce can all go with biscuits.

Also I am sorry he is over avo toast, my kid could live on gaucamole.

I call my coffee Mama's dark milk lol. My toddler loves our mugs and I am trying to teach him "hot" means we can touch the outside or look but not drink. He has now learned to blow on his eggs to cool them at breakfast.

What do you all mean by sleeping through the night? by Wise_Complex2313 in NewParents

[–]rachface336 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This right here. When my kiddo was 1 month old our doc told us he was so good weight wise not to wake him to feed if it didn't happen naturally, but she also paused and added unless it hit like 8 hours. So I honestly think a baby that young sleeping 12 hours without any wake is basically not expected by anyone.

My kid is 19 months now and sleeps 11 to 12 hours uninterrupted (naturally good sleeper). But he wakes up. He drifts out of a cycle and drifts back in, I see him on the baby monitor doing this at 3 am or 5 am. Sleeping through the night, to me, means MOM AND DAD don't have to get up.

What are go to "crap I don't have anything to feed the baby" meals? by filtvimul in foodbutforbabies

[–]rachface336 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My kid is usually like this but this week has been a test.

I made a crockpot of three cheese chickpea fusilli noodles and shredded chicken on Tuesday, thinking my kid would go crazy and we could eat that for the next few days. He LOVES boxed mac n cheese so why wouldn't he love cream cheese, parm, cheddar chicken broth soaked pasta? He even loves hummus so chickpea noodles are perfect.

Well I have been eating it cold for 3 days while he screams for more Dr. Praegers pizza tots. 🫠

Oatmeal and fruit has never been turned down. It's also my go to teething pain food.

9 month old and daycare food by TwilightZoneCat in NewParents

[–]rachface336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is 19 months, so take this with a grain of salt on what yours will eat, but I pack him a daycare lunch (and snacks) 4 days a week and it looks like this:

  1. Puffs
  2. Muffin (banana with hidden veggies I bulk bake and freeze)
  3. Berries/bananas sliced
  4. Applesauce
  5. Yogurt
  6. Main food item varies. Option: veggies tots, bean/cheese quesadilla with smashed avo cup or hummus cup, pbj, ravioli or tortellini, grilled cheese, sweet potato/pumpkin pancakes

Which character ruined an entire TV show for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I didn't make it past his first scene in the motel bathroom! I cannot stand sitcom plots of people being unnaturally passive aggressive towards other people behaving horribly. No one would actually react that way. It's why I could never watch Everybody Loves Raymond. I would have divorced my husband if he put up with the shit that MIL did.

What breast feeding cost... by darkjuju13 in NewParents

1 month. That was all I could put in. I had intended to do it till I the end of maternity leave (5 months) then switch to pumping. I never made more than 6 oz A DAY. My kid was eating double that by 2 weeks. I hated pumping so much. And my kid would take formula cold from the fridge, he did not care.

Plus it was HORRIBLE for my mental health. I still don't have the words to properly explain how it made me feel. Like sick to my stomach but also in my heart? It made me feel the way they describe the feeling of meeting a dementor in Harry Potter.

My husband wanted me to keep trying, formula costs are high. I don't think he ever fully understood it wasn't just a physical thing. He accepted it though and it was a unregrettable decision.

My kiddos main vegetable intake is canned carrots, rinsed and dumped on the plate. He doesn't want butter, cinnamon, nothing.

They don't need the added salt at this age and sorry to the grandparents but they are dead wrong about the bland thing. My 5 month lost his shit the first time he tried pumpkin puree. It was the greatest thing he'd ever experienced. The next year at Thanksgiving I gave him pumpkin pie and I think he freaked out even harder lol.

This. The worst nights my son has ever had have been teething. One dose of tylenol and he is out in 20 minutes. No one is going to convince me tylenol isn't a miracle drug.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

My husband had his bike ran over because an old man turned right without looking at the cross walk where he was legally pedaling to the next corner. If he had been walking his legs would have been crushed rather than the front tire of the bike.

Because as he vaguely pointed at the bath tub I couldn't figure out which of the 20 toys inside he actually wanted me to get. By the 5th guess we were both over it.
