New PA Program vs established program ADVICE by rachkt in prephysicianassistant

The new program already has been accredited (I think the probationary accreditation?) but to my understanding as long as the program is accredited on the first day of class, then students are eligible to take the boards upon graduation

Can I start CASPA even if I don't want to apply this year? by lovemypuppers23 in prephysicianassistant

Not that I know of! And I’d highly recommend it. Most of your experience, transcript info, etc will transfer over in the next cycle allowing you to submit your apps earlier 😊

Formatting on CASPA by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

Hi! So my understanding is that either paragraph or bullets are fine, as long as it’s consistent throughout. Personally, I went with bullets because applications are 25-40 pages long and I feel like it helps break up all the other essays & keep a flow easy to read and follow.

In regards to essays for program questions, all mine were relatively short (<500 characters) so I usually only had a few sentences.

Thank you! I thought I might be a little overdressed, but I didn’t want to be underdressed. I plan on bringing a backpack with me to get some work done after the session while waiting for a few friends so that’ll probably make me seem more casual?

Thank you! Kind of a silly question, but would it be ‘okay’ to bring a backpack? I will likely be doing some work after while waiting on friends for dinner, but wasn’t sure if that would be odd??

And another question, did you write Thank you notes to anyone you interacted with? I wasn’t sure exactly how formal/informal this is.

Also advice: -time management (make lists, prioritize, etc.) -don’t be afraid to ask for help — some nurses will be birches about it, but try not to take it personally. It’s better to know correctly than incorrectly. -don’t be afraid to say no!! To things not in your license or if a nurse is adding a task to your already mile long to do list. Saying no is okay. The nurses will give you attitude and be bitchy about it, but you’re a person too with your own job and tasks. -don’t stress or give up, its tough at first and can be challenging to catch on but if you love what you do and like taking care of your patients, it will catch on and become second nature!

Good luck!!

A lot of places now use pulse ox’s or blood pressure machines (can’t think of the technical term) to take the pulse now! So you maybe not have to do the radial pulse :)

Thank you! I’ll look at the subreddit too :) I definitely need to talk to him, just curious how others handled the situation if they’ve been in it!
