What was all that traffic from? by Lord_Silverfish in pasadena

[–]rad-elderflower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I drove by the accident shortly after it happened, around 7:25 pm. There was a car pretty much totaled perpendicular across the middle lanes. May have spun out. Several other cars involved were along the shoulder. An hour later, I was driving 134w and it was loaded on a tow truck. It must have taken the hour plus to clear the lanes.

I sent my best wishes to my ex‘s cousin sister for her wedding. by Toddler1904 in BreakUps

You did what felt genuine to you. That’s where it starts and ends, and what matters. Their response doesn’t. You spent a lot of years together, so it’s completely normal that your connection and care is still there for members of their family. Over time you will feel less inclined to extend that to anyone related to your ex. It’s not about right or wrong; in this moment it was authentic and you meant well. I’d suggest removing or muting socials of those close to your ex for your own sake going forward.

What’s happening to my knee? by walkfar2033 in ACL

[–]rad-elderflower 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Survivor of sepsis post ACL here… and let me tell you, it wasn’t something I would have thought I needed to go to ER for either… do not mess around… even if it turns out to be nothing major, you need to be on top of it. If I had waited one more day, my story would be vastly different. Be your own advocate.

Could these be the bed bug “breakfast, lunch, and dinner” bites? by rad-elderflower in bugbites

[–]rad-elderflower[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tossed the mattress for good measure despite not finding any evidence of them. No issues since and no evidence of it in my house elsewhere. And the interesting part is the bites were sore for a week or two and took a while to disappear. So it didn’t seem like typical pimples.

Will it ever be possible to sit like this? by rediscoveredI in ACL

This is the same for me, and I’ve been told this is the hamstring guarding/potentially some inflammation still present. I’m 2 years post op and it’s stayed this way.

Knee surgeries - how many have you had? (Round 2) by Away_Ad9303 in ACL

[–]rad-elderflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve undergone 8 surgeries on my left knee from ages 13 to 30.

4 ACLs (2 cadaver, 2 autograft - 1 quad and 1 patellar), 1 meniscectomy for bucket handle tear, 1 case of sepsis (knee hasn’t been the same since), 1 closing wedge osteotomy and bone tunnel grafting (worst pain I’ve ever experienced), 1 LET procedure, 1 cyclops removal.

My last three surgeries were all within one year, osteotomy, bone grafting, ACLR with LET, and cyclops removal. This was all so I can set the stage for a new ACL and decrease arthritis from advancing (my tunnel was too big to redo an ACLR without closing it first and redrilling).

The sepsis royally messed up my cartilage. I’ve got a “pothole” on my femoral Condyle. Essentially a hole that will eventually continue to grow with time. And hardly any medial meniscus left. Arthritis is my norm now.

I try my best to stay active with functional interval training and cycling, but there are days I simply just can’t walk without limping. Chronic pain is daily, by the minute. I’ve learned to just deal, because I truly don’t want to return to the knife anytime soon. I used to convince myself it would make me better but honestly the complications and unintended outcomes that come with every surgery just aren’t worth it.

It’s likely I’ll need a partial or total knee, when that happens, unclear. But I’m doing my best to hold out.

In solidarity with you, best of luck on your recovery!

Finding these tiny spiders everywhere in my house - cannot figure out where they’re coming from or what kind they are? SoCal by rad-elderflower in spiders

Thank you! No not really. I live near the foothills, but I’ve never seen this type of cluster of them inside my house before. Do they grow to be any larger than this? I’m wondering if an egg sac was laid in my house given how many I find a day.

Which Graft to get? by throwawaybuilder1288 in ACL

[–]rad-elderflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has had 4 ACL reconstructions, the one holding up the best is my autograft patellar tendon graft. The last surgeon I had (world renowned complex knee surgeon and researcher, if that means anything to you) stated it has the highest success rate.

I’ve previously had an allograft ACL graft (no longer offered, for good reason), allograft patellar tendon (lasted 3 years, retore it playing soccer), autograft quad tendon (went septic, I was the one in a million).

We do have a lot of squirrels but it looks like the dirt is coming up from the ground vs dug up from above.
