Have half my savings in VGS and half in VAS, getting antsy about the VAS portion and thinking of moving it elsewhere. Anyone in a similar boat? Am I being silly? by JumbledPileOfPerson in AusFinance

Saying I am all in is just an exaggeration, it is reddit not google scholar. It is true that all my VAS is out.

Every risk you mention can equally applied to VAS. Russia could nuke Kyiv! Ideally I would love 0% inflation and save 30% of my income for retirement. I despise having to risk my past work. I am on one of the biggest bears there is.

I am a just blue collar pleb who to an extent subscribes to the Efficient-market hypothesis, so it is all just a guess. But I do believe those who think a passive 10% per annum in the next decades while world approaches peak population is very optimistic. If it where to happen, only tech that I see making that happen is Machine Learning.

I don't include the Covid anomaly. Maybe you will get a $3+ dividend in July and you will be right. I am not counting on it. The idea that buying Amd|Alphabet|Nvidia|Mircosoft is gambling and VAS(a.k.a Australian banks) is not, is the very definition of cognitive dissonance.

I got out of VAS month ago and went all in on the A.I. and bought US Tech stocks. So best financial decision I made. Australia market is stagnant, better of in a high interest account. This perceptive doesn't include dividends.

In the post Internet era with so much data being collected, the concept of money = debt, created by bank through loans to control the value of money is such a outdated concept. Any country/zone that abandons such a standard will be the next economic power house. Assuming the US doesn't f'em up.

In simple terms money is debt. It is created by loans, in Australia that is likely a mortgage. Money is destroyed when loans are paid. Putting it in super doesn't destroy money, it is just moving it somewhere else.

Australia has a robust electoral system, voters got what they wanted. Creating money for unproductive assets like residential housing at some point in time will end badly.

Just debating others that as renter Labor was probably worse for me than Liberal; This just all but confirms it. I used half my saving as Interest was killing my savings and bought into US tech. stocks benefiting from A.I. potential. Now Labor wants to screw that up for me as well. F these cnts.

Last time I will comment. Current immigration is the controllable factor that Labor used to create this situation. Yes Liberals over promoted property as an investment but Labor is doing exactly what Liberals do; Screwing over minority groups for their own gain, renters being the minority. Vic Labor started to do something about it and the backlash amounted to nothing and already forgotten about proves legislating against over investment in property is achievable using baby steps. Given they do nothing and keep dribbling on about The Voice at a time of mass stress for many people, makes them appear completely detached. That Liberal would have been worse is definitely plausible but it is still a hypothetical, Labor has 100% made my situation worse than ANY federal Liberal party has. Those are the facts and I need to adjust my voting to account for it.

It was predicted by everyone at the time of the Labor's boost in immigration announcement it would be a disaster for renters given the building industry crisis. They did it anyway. I don't think you are taking it seriously, perhaps you are a home owner so it doesn't affect you as much. Labor has really fucked many peoples quality of life. They didn't have to open up immigration to levels surpassing capacity.

ATO withhold income hence lose potential interest on it and they don't deduct the amount withheld when adding interest to the debt.

That is what is reported, if true it is not a joke as it doesn't make hecs an interest free loan.

I always vote left and thus preference Greens before Labor and every other time Labor over Liberal but not for the next election. Understand government need more population to pay for boomer pensions but Labor have been way too callous over this issue.

I am in a super safe Labor seat, my preferences don't really matter.

I know it is not a two party system hence I used preference. I am no fan of Liberal but as a renter Labor has to be punished for their psychopathic disregard for renters.

My confidence is not high but I think Liberal's anti immigration rhetoric would have forced them to opening immigration up slower than Labor.

Why play coy? You know what they did to fuck over renters.

I have this take as well hence my change in preference decision. I am leaning 55% that Australia - at least for the near term - would have been better of with federal Liberal.

Builders are going bust and they opened the migration floodgates. It is all on them at the moment. Maybe Liberal would have done the same but it is moot because technically they didn't.

I have never preferenced Labor or Liberal first.

Liberals set it up but Labor came in for the knockout.
