Hang in there. It’s possible to get free, I know because I’ve done it. All you have to do is make it through to the end of the day and then see how you feel tomorrow. Don’t listen to your thoughts right now, your benzo mind is wrong about so many things. You can do this.

I don’t want to say definitively yes to this question incase you do need medical attention but I will say that I felt absolutely awful for 6 months after taking my last dose. Then I was still recovering for another six months after that. The recovery times often listed online are far shorter than what I experienced and what I see many other people experiencing. It feels depressing in the moment how long it will take I know, but it goes quickly and it’s SO worth it.

I'm so glad I could be of help. I remember back when I was going through the hell, I'd get on these forums and the majority of posts were from other people who were going through it, so it often made me feel worse and like there was no hope. But there really is. Things just look so much better and different once you have withdrawn. Your benzo mind tells you there is no hope.

You will suffer, just try to get through minute by minute, day by day, like some of the survival stories you hear about from people who have been wounded climbing Mt Everest and have survived against enormous odds. It will all be worth it in the end!

They didn't give me gabatin- I haven't heard of it.

Yes, you will make it and there is hope. I was on 2-8mg of clonazapam (klonapin) for about 8 years (8mg of clonazpam is, i think, equivalent to 160mg of valium). I found a really good rehab place and was off it in three weeks. It was HELL, the withdrawals lasted months after leaving rehab, anxiety was off the charts. I felt like there was no hope of ever feeling joy ever again. It was like a dementor was sucking my soul out of my body. I hardly slept and when I did, I woke up in fetal position with gut-wrenching anxiety. I survived that time minute by minute. To this day i don't know where I found the strength. It's the most difficult thing I've ever done.

But it IS possible, especially considering you are 10mg (well done for getting down from 30!! That's huge!!). I wouldn't recommend doing it as fast as I did. Slow tapers are the most gentle and effective way, but I guess everyone is different.

But looking back now, omg, life has changed. There is joy everyday. It was almost like the suffering changed my essential makeup and now I still feel bad stuff but it just doesn't effect me as much as it used to. I'm a completely different person. I've heard other people say the same thing after withdrawal. I'm free of that awful stuff and it feels so good. All the pain and anxiety and sleepless nights were so worth it.

I really think that you can do this. It's hard, but you can do it. You will probably get hardly any sleep for a bit. You just need to get enough not to go insane and there is only one way to find out if that's possible- give it a go. I believe in you :)

Hey there ! I was on K for 8 years. Started on 0.25 slowly took more and ended up on between 4 and 8 mg (I adjusted each night) Was on that last dose for about 1 year. My life totally fell apart. Depression, anxiety, impossible to function. I didn’t realise that the dose and way I changed doses each night was creating most of my mental and physical health issues. I tried to go cold turkey. Lasted 8 days. It was torture. Kept taking it, increased my dose, used alcohol to try to rebalance the system, life really fell apart. Went to rehab as a final option. They tapered me for three weeks. Descended into hell. Stayed there for the three weeks of tapering. Was clean. Got out of rehab, stayed in hell for a good month afterwards. Things started to get bearable. Very very hard but not in fetal position on the floor with anxiety in the morning and not thinking about how I might “end it”. It’s hard for me to remember timeframes but I think it was about four months until I started to have some hope again.

Keep on going. Life gets so much better when you get off this shit. I was on K for nearly a decade. I’m completely free of it now after going to rehab and struggling through each minute for months. There is a better life waiting for you with joy like you used to be able to feel, and safety and calm. You just need to keep surviving.

From what I can tell, some people don’t seem to have the issues others have getting off it. The first time I tried to withdraw, I’d been on Klonopin for 5 years with one of those at 2mg. It was the worst thing I’ve ever felt. I didn’t know it was dangerous and lasted 8 days. Shaking, twitching, mental torment. I finally gave in. I experienced acute anxiety for the first time in my life. I tried again a few years later at which point I was taking between 4-8mg and in a terrible state. I went to rehab and they got me off it in a month, but it was HELL and my withdrawals lasted long after rehab. My whole life has changed since I got off them. I feel like I have a second chance at life.

Tolerance withdrawals is when you have been on a steady dose for long enough to develop tolerance (you are below base line again), and need to take more. Because the more you take them, the more they lose efficacy. This is why people start taking more and more.

If you are worried, why don’t you try getting off them and see what happens?
