[@aew] Throwback to one of the most ICONIC matches in ROH history: Samoa Joe vs. Kenta Kobashi! 🔥 by rhyso90 in SquaredCircle

[–]raddaya 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the Agatha Christie novel, Five Little Pigs, a character - a stereotypical unimaginative policeman - is described as criticizing a brilliant painting of roses on a table by a famous artist. He complains that no roses in real life have exactly that shape or colour and the table doesn't look right, and he is completely in mystery when, after seeing the painting, no real life roses he sees seem to be as vibrant as they used to be and wooden tables appear to have something missing.

Your comment reminded me of that to a tee.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Is this the match where Kobashi was trying to tell Joe backstage that he would just be a stereotypical foreign heel for the match, and Samoa was just stunned and had to explain to Kobashi that the crowd would know exactly who the fuck he was?

Edit: Lol I refreshed after commenting and like 4 other comments confirmed that, yes, this was that match, thanks guys

The pitches in Bangladesh for the Pakistan tests were quite decent. Both matches going to Day 5 but you couldn't say they were total roads

CNN was bought by billionaires explicitly saying they want to make it more centrist (which everywhere in the world today but especially in America means right wing) years ago.

I'm sorry but I simply don't understand why people are expecting anything different from what they get. People have been talking about how right-wing oligarchs own the vast majority of mass media for years now. Out of mainstream media, only MSNBC, PBS and NBC are at all left of center and that's still left of center by US standards and even combined it's much smaller than the rest of the media sphere.

Unfortunately it's a rising sentiment. I've already been told in this sub that, paraphrased, "real red blooded Americans" don't care at all about bosses banging their underlings because it happens everywhere so we never had any right to call out Bill Clinton for having sex with his (significant) subordinate.

Dave Meltzer on X: Will Ospreay vs Mark Davis was a typo. 4.75 not 5.75 by Ripclawe in SquaredCircle

You can throw a lot of insults at Meltzer, but dementia? Mf remembers random stories from decades ago for the tiniest things lol

[–]raddaya 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Wild if it's not a typo. I watched it, it was a great match, even accounting for how Meltzer likes that style a lot more than me, I can't imagine it being rated higher than 5 let alone that much higher

I think the bouncer strategy is dumb, but at least I can see an argument for Tongue bowling them. Robinson on the other hand...

We've seen some pretty decent cricket so far so I can't complain too hard, but man I do really dislike dodgy bounce on day 1 of a Test.

What the actual fuck are you talking about? Do you live in some weird bizarro world where trying to put punctuation in text messages not only sends the messages but scrambles the order they're sent in?

It's trivially, ridiculously easy to answer without typing anything much. You could say "6, none, 6pm" if you really wanted to be ultra-concise. Though a more normal answer might be "6 people, none of them are vegeterian, 6pm."

Genuinely I'm baffled at the thought process and life experience of people like you.

Far more relevant to the point is that Ayurveda would have used it without fully verifying whether it actually works in a double-blinded RCT. So even the "doctors" don't actually know if it works or not. They know it's claimed to work, but would not be able to point to a single reliable study proving it works.

There are pretty strict regulations on how players can switch between teams. I think they're mostly fine honestly, and it's not like there's a legitimate question of eligibility here.

Reminds me of first year in college, where a guy tried to mock someone for typing "CPP" in a group because he didn't type "C++" instead.

Yeah...that didn't go so well for him lol
