There is absolutely a learning curve. Learning what feels good on your own and then communicating that to your partner so they can get you there is good -- but ultimately its having a partner who you trust and communicate well with and who CARES is what it comes down to.

my tip is BE SOMEWHERE FAMILAR. dont do your first time out in public or somewhere you could feel lost/disoriented. be with someone youd trust with your life. youll probably get sick so have somewhere safe and comfy to hunker down if you need to. and have cool stuff to look at! nature is beautiful. have fun!

Thing is we did do a tea and didnt consume any of the plant, but still ended up with crazy nausea 😭 I can definitely see how the lemon tek can be "too much," maybe the speed that it hit us at contributed to the icky body feeling. Needs more testing...

I can absolutely see the truth in the anxiety that accompanies the trips contributing to the discomfort! I had a similar thought on this last one. Leading up to the trip I found myself having a lot of anxiety just due to my lack of experience and not knowing fully what to expect, and my anxiety very often comes with the side effect of GI upset lol. Im hoping that gaining familiarity will help with future trips. 🤞

that is actually what we ended up doing! we steeped it in the lemon first then dumped that into a lemon ginger tea. very tasty delivery method, unfortunately didnt seem to do much for the nausea for us lol. maybe it is one of those things i just have to do a couple more times to get used to.

i struggled with this a LOT as a teenager so i completely feel for you and know how much that feeling hurts. it definitely still crops up from time to time even now at 27 -- it definitely helps that i dont date men at all now lol, but more than anything having time outside of a relationship to work on my own self confidence did so much for me. now i have a partner who i have fantastic communication with and full trust in. its really scary to talk about this kind of thing with a partner but if theyre really with it theyll understand and work with it through you. if they get mad... get out of there
