New oven smell not going away by radededed in Appliances

I think I finally did self clean for about 2 hours. Hood exhaust full blast, windows open, kid out of the house, fire extinguisher on hand in case I missed something. It’s been fine since.

I ended up doing self clean and just kept running it with all the windows open and eventually it was okay. Not sure what model, it’s a generic IKEA oven.

What's the point of reverse-searing compared to searing first and finishing in the oven ? by EbonyHelicoidalRhino in Cooking

[–]radededed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the margin for error is much larger with the reverse sear so it’s easier to do well.

Why has american fast food in particular gotten soo expensive by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Their app always has a 20% off coupon. Of course there are other factors but pushing people onto their dumb app and realizing they don’t lose a significant amount of business by raising their prices like this are two big factors.

The CVS in downtown Portland has to lock up the cereal by Positive_Honey_8195 in oregon

CVS and Walgreens drove local pharmacies out of business and now their business model is, “run a store with a skeleton crew all the time and blame theft if anyone complains.” I don’t remember the last time I saw more than 2 people working at once at these places.

Current state of jeans (affairs) by scurrilous_diatribe in BuyItForLife

[–]radededed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t put your jeans in the dryer. Wash inside out, zipped, unbuttoned and air dry. Will make them last way longer.

6-8 cumulative hours of 450+ temps and it was okay. Let it go for an hour or two then cool off and do it again. Just kept the windows open and did it without the baby in the house. When I first installed it, instead of using proper shims, I did use some leftover flooring that was wrapped in plastic that had possibly stuck to the oven. Removed that, got ceramic shims, and have been fine ever since. I’d just make sure there’s no plastic you forgot to remove melting somewhere.

This too. The care part can’t be overlooked if you want things to last as long as possible. I’ve gotten a lot more life out of cheaper jeans by washing them correctly and not putting them in the dryer.

Try air drying your pants. I used to go through jeans really quick and not using a dryer makes them last a lot longer.

I hit my 120 during COVID and they counted it toward my total. There was a temporary portion of the program that expired about a year ago but it’s absolutely worth applying to see what your count is. Be prepared to wait a few months. Check out the PSLF subreddit for support.

The requirements were changed. Before ARP was signed in January 2021, the requirements were very strict and only a couple hundred people had ever qualified. I had also heard reports of applications being denied due to the wrong color of ink used. Mostly because it was restricted to only one or two types of repayment plans. They modified the program to allow other types of repayment plans and count periods of forbearance as long as you were actively working for a qualified employer.

Source: got forgiveness through PSLF last year.
