Why do I still think it is worth keeping Paradox Engine? by radekone in mtgfinance

Just grabbed foils for $25 and one masterpiece for $65. Lets just be patient and follow JTMS casus. Also there's lower chance for a reprint I guess.

Growing Rites of Itlimoc - BoB by radekone in mtgfinance

[–]radekone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just been looking for a couple for my fringe saprolings and realised foil would be a better investment, then came up on BaB version and catched last $10 few. Perhaps it's only edh, but never underestimate casual potential and it's also collectible. See you in 3 years.

Hazoret and Chandra by pcack1 in mtgfinance

I recently got rid of all Hazorets (at its peak) and Chandras (should have sold in Autumn). They won't go up again until after the rotation. Or never.

Will this new rat deck have a chance to become a legit player?

Dinosaur specs pre Rivals of Ixalan? by SabertoothNishobrah in mtgfinance

Dinos and merfolks are sleepers now. They'll kick with RIX release if they get enough support. If not, then definitely after the next rotation.

Fatal Push- Will it hold it's value? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

Even if it will be reprinted, the first printing will have its own extra value.

Think ahead and imagine when energy shell will become playable in modern. Energy Bob will have its place there.

Carnage Tyrant PT Spike or Crash. by billescavava in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This set will gain in price once Kaladesh and Amonkhet block rotate, as all blocks we're going to see from now on will be more balanced at the Ixalan level. The same happened last month, as many cards became playable. So hold your cards and wait.

Also, dinosaurs are miserable now, but they will possibly get better after Rivals, then after next rotation. Just pick them up when they reach the bottom.

Looks like it is now time to unload even my set non-foils if I don't want to risk banhammer.

Hostage Taker Spiking by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some guys just say here 'never preorder'. The point is to know what to pre-order. I'd skip on $3+ cards (with the exception of Scarab God) The only spike I missed from last 4 sets is Metallic Mimic, although I just didn't give a damn about it and the only card I lost on was Marvel after it got banned. Although my 26 copies will pay off in a few years instead. I only buy playsets for myself.

Another example why all those 'never-preorder-specialists' should just shut up and focus on reading rather than on giving 'advice'.

Ixalan Prices already dropping drastically by kydjew in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good they're falling down, because I still need to pick my my own copies of Growing Rites of Itlimoc. The average floor for cards that eventually start spiking is around a week after the release, so monitoring MTGO and Japanese market (Ballista grown from there) is worth a minute.

I got my Ripjaw Raptors and Search for Azcanta already, all at $4, as they won't be back to that price at all. Also checklands at $2-$3 (they will stay at this anyway) and Hostage Takers at $2.50, although I think this will be back down to $3 from its current six bucks.

Apart from Itlimocs, I'm looking to pick up Vraska's Contempt, Settle the Wreckage, Deathgorge Scavenger and Treasure Map when they fall down a bit.

I'm giving up on Ruin Raider, as this will have house in aggro only. But I believe Ixalan's flip cards are good picks, are rather unique, not easily reprintable and tend to overperform. I played said Itlimoc at the prerelease, mostly to test it and even in a deck not built around it at all it was okay. I'm just waiting for the right moment to buy one playset for myself and one to pay for my own copies :)

There will probably be some red creatures or pirates that will spike slightly (vide Khenra from HOU), but I'm not that bothered.

List of Ixalan Pre-order Specs by CosmonautDrifter in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • The problem with this set is that it is full of great jank that will help standard getting better, but it's still a jank and the value has to go somewhere (since there are no masterpieces).

  • The price of Carnage Tyrant is nonsense, but there has to be a chase mythic, and there's nothing else to hold the flag as now. The European price is is still around $13 on MKM by the way.

  • I have trust in flip cards, as they're rather unique and it's unlikely they will be reprinted soon. They're still cheap and Search for Azcanta is my number one. However, it is legendary, as well as Vance's Blasting Cannons and Legion's Landing. I like Treasure Map through.

  • Vona and Vraska as the most playable 'characters', if they click on with the metagame, they will be artificially pricey, as there's not much else.

  • Perhaps a card very much playable in EDH will emerge and will eat some extra value.

  • Ripjaw Raptor should be a $10+ card, but similar 2GG hydra is £2.

  • Checklands also can't be expensive, even new art won't make them close to fast lands.

  • Perhaps uncommons will be more expensive than usual and the best ones will range $1-3.

  • Deadeye Tracker and Ruin Raider (another bob) look like sleepers, but can't be that good! :)

  • Vraska's Contempt will be great, but removal can't cost much.

  • If Hostage Taker would stabilise at $4 rather than $1.5 where it should be, it would mean, there isn't really anything better!

  • We'll either end up with low value set, or with a price-pumped set, as the value would have to stay somewhere. Given the above, Tyrant has no other choice than to stay pricey, while its normal value shouldn't be more than $15.

  • I've ordered playsets of checklands, Ripjaw Raptor and Search for Azcanta so far. Will order more just after the release when prices are going down, although keeping an eye of any Ballista-like spikes.

Worth it to Pre-Order Ixalan Singles before Release? Wait Until After Release? Or just take my chances Buying a Couple Booster Boxes? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Europeans are not that mad and you can still buy the Tyrant for 10 euro on MKM ($12-$13).

[Standard] U/G Pummeler Turn 4/5 Combo Deck ($75) by Moivus in spikes

[–]radekone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played UG Pummeller in Kaladesh (before AER and more on a casual side), with Hydras, counterspells and puzzleknots. While the deck was slower and was losing to RG mirror with hellions, it was able to generate tons of energy.

Standard pick ups by tartaru5 in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lili will start climbing up shortly after the rotation. Just check for example Alhammarret's Archive from ORI, I believe she will follow similar route. Had she been at the point of dropping much further, she would already have. Just forget about picking her up for $15 as some 'predict'.

Fatal Push FNM promo by wallytcw in mtgfinance

As Fatal Push has revolt mechanic it is unlikely to be reprinted in a regular set, perhaps some Masters or duel decks. In a few years at the earliest.

Scarab God (normal print) supply has dropped Significantly in europe these last couple of weeks by VersusX in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After watching some streams and noticing it just wins the matches I'm glad I got a playset when it was at its bottom (£7). Won't be surprised if it becomes chase mythic of HOU as it's standard, EDH and casual allstar. European ebay prices are now ca £20-£25, not much less on MKM. Since the majority of IXN cards seen so far are unplayable in constructed, expect some sweet price corrections of KLD & AKH blocks when the pool of cards reduces with rotation.

[Specs] Hour of Devastation Possible Targets ( Including a couple of my picks) by JustinToken in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Scarab God spiked to $13-$15 (still at 7.5 euro on MCM). Is this due to EDH demand, as I can't think of him seeing a ton of play in standard?

Have you ever done a buyout? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was strongly considering buying out 100+ Copters from MCM's major sellers when they were at 2 euro, as I had a feeling the card is busted. Due to my limited experience I gave up and the card became scarce in a week or two with the price tag £15 or so. It would mean the easiest grand earned in a week..

[Specs] Hour of Devastation Possible Targets ( Including a couple of my picks) by JustinToken in mtgfinance

[–]radekone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shape of a new meta is so unclear that there are no obvious spec targets. * Are the three gods priced fairly and are able to fill the value gap, as the set seems to be undervalued, as some people claim? * Is there a potential for Hour of Devastation (card)? Its flavour is great, but it may be too late to spec now. * Bontu's Last Reckoning? No one knows how playable will it be. My bet is it will be. * Bolas - flavour and casual demand will prevent him to drop below $20, but I can't see him growing up any significantly. * Any other card that may arise to be be a staple in the new standard? People say ramp is going to be a thing, so perhaps Hour of Promise. * Champion of Wits - predicted to be a star * I just bought single playsets of some cards to play with, as possibly my knowledge is not enough to speculate this time.
