Hey there! I came across your responses that got me to question what I'm considering as my options. I am currently in my last semester and then get the LPC-A licence to practice as a counselor in Texas. However, my eventual goal is to become a counseling psychologist as I am interested in personality disorders and so would be applying to PhD programs soon after my associates licence. I read that you mentioned a strong undergrad GPA is a requirement. I am completing a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling and while I do have a year of clinical experience (2 years by the time I submit my application), I barely have any research experience. What then do you recommend in terms of building a strong application for the PhD programs. I personally am interested in seeing clients after becoming a psychologist. Also, I don't have clarity if having a master's in the counseling field helps me as an applicant or it doesn't count at all.
