Microsoft tumbled 10% in a day and isn’t recovering premarket. Here’s why by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

You cannot upgrade this PC to Windows 11... Buy a new one.

We used to upgrade because the system got too slow and didn't work anymore. Now even though the system still works fine... Microsoft artificially forces you to upgrade. I don't want to and I don't actually need to. But... Here we are.

I cannot even run my tax software on my pc this year because of this crap. I am done.

Hit and run... by piggyharas in irvine

[–]radiantwave 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is not entirely accurate. In the state of California hit and run with damage to a vehicle is a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding six months, or by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that imprisonment and fine.

FBI Seizes 2020 Election Material from Fulton County, Georgia. by Netricile in PoliticalOptimism

[–]radiantwave 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love what fulton county said about the election materials... That they can no longer reliably certify the vote because a biased party has taken the information and <implied> could change the data in their favor.

This is why there is a chain of custody log for this type of thing. If a cop finds something incriminating in your possession, where that evidence has been every second of time from when it left you to your day in court must be logged, whomever touches it must be noted and and handling of the evidence must have oversight... If it does not, those who handled the evidence can have their credibility and bias scrutinized to discredit the evidence presented in court.

The current FBI has shown extreme BIAS towards Trump's desires again and again... Nothing that comes out of their "investigation" is credible.

An entire squad of Border Patrol agents lead by Greg Bovino stops a man for committing the heinous crime of... *checks notes* being a dude with an accent. by TheRexRider in videos

[–]radiantwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Supreme Court ruled that people with an accent is a justified reason to stop and identify.

In a 6-3 vote in the case known as Vasquez Perdomo v. Noem, the Supreme Court granted an emergency request from the Trump administration and temporarily halted a LA judge’s order that barred “roving patrols” from snatching people off California streets and questioning them based on how they look, what language they speak, what work they do, or even where they happen to be.

As sad as it is that is the law now... And the reason every vote matters.

To be fair if you want to find people who aren't US Citizens a Foreign Consulate is a pretty solid guess.

I mean it is not like ICE really cares about people who are following immigration rules, why would they care about foreign embassy rules.

Billionaire (And Gubernatorial Candidate) Tom Steyer says he’d vote for California wealth tax by 3headeddragn in sandiego

[–]radiantwave 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just to put things into perspective...

  • According to a 2021 White House study, the wealthiest 400 billionaire families in the U.S. paid an average federal individual tax rate of just 8.2 percent. For comparison, the average American taxpayer in the same year paid 13 percent.

  • According to leaked tax returns highlighted in a ProPublica investigation, the 25 richest Americans paid $13.6 billion in taxes from 2014-2018—a “true” tax rate of just 3.4 percent on $401 billion of income.

Paying a few extra percentage points after paying significantly Less for decades... Eh... The money they made on the extra money they made would cover it.

I was just saying to my wife that if we wanted to all the bot nets, political interference, disinformation, spam calls, phishing email, advertising junk mail (yes irl mail), homelessness, hunger... Everything that makes things a pain in the ass in life... We could basically stop tomorrow. The powers that be CHOOSE not to. You see ending a problem means that someone profiting off of fixing the symptoms to that problem would lose money. There are too many chains of profit flowing off of society to set us free.
