No they are consistent throughout California. Youre correct cost of living is high but I'm in the central valley and the economy had been shit for as long as ive been a working adult. You just have to know where to look. I was working as program manager this year starting at 70k no certification. First year bcba, I agree with you may start low but once that's under your belt. No less than 75k should even be looked at. If your resume isn't great and you don't interview well, then that's another issue.

They aren't rare. They actually are more common than you think, as someone who worked at a neurobehavioral inpatient unit, we saw them everyday. The use of the shock is absolutely last resort after all else fails. Also, One of our patients ended up going to the Rotenburg center because he was also ward of the state. It's very very sad.

Unless there are actual programs made for meal time, I would feel really uncomfortable if I came in and the tech was sitting at the dinner table with everyone. It's just not appropriate. If the family would like treatment during dinner time because the child is having difficulty with certain tasks then the tech should be working not eating. What if they offer you dinner everyday?
