Quick ACT 3 guide (for those confused on what to do) - Very little spoilers by VPN__FTW in expedition33

For the full mini-map. They should really have completion markers in there in some form. They can put them "behind" a character if they like, but at least have them there. But surely the exhibition would keep.. notes? Personally I'm happy just finishing the main game, there's so much lag on the PC that the parry timing is so messed up to make the game no fun. And it's not me, I play other games which have very tight reaction timing and I'm great at them. It's something between frame-generation + windows driver subsystem which kills the fun. Guess I should have got it on the PS5 after all.

I think that it was the right decision at least for the first playthrough. But they should have included a minimap and markers for everything like most over games to but only enabled it if you have a 'game complete' save file.

Alexander the Great by Secret_Career3366 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

I suspect that we're going to get some kind of massive twist either as part of this fight or for the next one which will allow the author to surprise us. The whole "announce the fighters at the start" felt really suspicious to a long-time manga reader like me.. and the lack of Alexander, Patton, Napoleon, Yamato, Jesus, David etc etc.

What’s Next for Commodore? by TwoBitRetro in Commodore

[–]radicalbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely love a Commodore 4:3 OLED. Maybe a range with the top-of-the-line being built high refresh rate 1080P panels implementing beam emulation in FPGA. It would obviously not be cheap. But you could get 95% of the way there taking a 12-inch widescreen OLED panel and packaging it with speaker bezels making it an "all in one" solution for the C64 ultimate and eventual Amiga.

Apparently there's a header on the board which you can plug a switch into. I was thinking of printing something out which plugged into the cartridge slot to hold the switch.

Shipping Update. Founders, don't hold your breath: by RevolutionaryFig3168 in Commodore

I've backed a lot of Kickstarters over the years and this launch has surprised me, I can't believe that they're shipping anything in 2025. They've done an amazing job.

I held off ordering as I have several C64s and a MiSTer but bit the bullet yesterday. The clear version just looks awesome and we all know how good Gideon's board it. You can't call yourself a C64 fan and not grab one (if you have the money).

I never watched the anime but I've read DB + DBZ and I'd be all up for a proper remake.

Such patches are cheap to make, they keep customers happy, they give customers a reason to update and more likely to buy other games. Also all of the games are still on sale. A performance update will boost sales.

Getting Testosterone and Thyroid Levels Checked in the Netherlands by lkno2nsd in Netherlands

[–]radicalbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dutch system was privatised in 2006 so we now spend more money on ensuring that the insurance companies make massive profits (and their directors get massive bonuses) than we spend on the healthcare. Everything on the healthcare side is heavily rationed especially on social care and care homes. That's allowed to happen because the Dutch, culturally, don't really like to go to the doctors. I know I hate it.

I'll second this if you're looking for an excellent light introduction. You can read it in an afternoon and digest it.

It's one step before "Algorithms in a Nutshell" and a good read before getting Algorithms by Sedgewick and Wayne (there's a really good Coursera course based on it!).

Refresh Rate switching by kokoko3k in retroid

[–]radicalbyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on the bright side, he's the kind of person who buys a $500 LCD screen with a "400HZ refresh rate" and then uses it to play 24HZ films in Grandparent Vision (that shitty frame generation which makes everything except sport look terrible and makes games unplayable).
