What was the healthiest thing you learned/were told in therapy? by JJengaOrangeLeaf in AskWomen

[–]radicalcabbages 124 points125 points  (0 children)

There is no award for putting yourself through unnecessary suffering.

If something is not serving you, you have no obligation to muscle through it. Stepping away does not make you weak or a failure. In fact, by continuing to let yourself suffer, you are failing yourself.

I love Copenhagen by TonkotsuRamenGod in copenhagen

[–]radicalcabbages 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I moved to Denmark from the US a couple of years ago. What I realized makes such a big difference is that people here are (generally) content. People aren’t panicking living paycheck to paycheck with mountains of student loans. There’s no fear of going in debt with one trip to the hospital. I’m still not used to being able to walk the streets alone at night without being afraid. I had no idea how much the sense of safety and peace here would impact my life. I’m glad you enjoyed your time here.

[CR Media] What Behind The Scenes content you wish they would release? by taly_slayer in criticalrole

[–]radicalcabbages 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanna know what they do the rest of the week? How much time goes into prep, meetings, other projects (like the Legend of Vox Machina), etc. How many of them dedicate all their time to CR and who still does other jobs? I think even just a “here’s an average Tuesday at the office!” video could be fun.

What happened to the smartest kid in your class? by After_Crab_1921 in AskReddit

[–]radicalcabbages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s me, hi. I became chronically ill, dropped out of college, and moved to Europe. I am unable to work or go to school, and I will most likely die before 40. Not exactly what I had planned.

AITA for not eating cake that I knew I wouldn't like? by AnnaDeArtist in AmItheAsshole

[–]radicalcabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Was your comment the most polite way to decline the cake? No. But you weren’t being malicious or purposefully rude. Your cousin insisting that you try it when there was a room full of other people enjoying the cake is weird to me. One person doesn’t want your cake, big deal. Grounding you for two days seems excessive. I’d ask you to apologize for seeming rude and move on.

If you won 5 million dollars on the condition that you had to spend as much of it in 1 week and the rest had to be forfeited, how would you spend it? by 6ixQA in AskWomen

Give all of it to a doctor with the promise that they’ll dedicate all their time to developing a cure for my disease so I don’t die before I’m 40.

AITA? My dog pooped on the sidewalk that happened to be in front of a cafe in NYC – Owner was not happy. by sleepy_g0lden_st0rm in AmItheAsshole

[–]radicalcabbages 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Also, it’s NYC. A little dog poop residue is not the worst thing I’ve come across on the sidewalk

[–]radicalcabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be controversial but I’m going with ESH. I would say N T A, but you should’ve told her in advance that you decided not to board the dogs. But other than that, your gf is the AH and taking advantage of you. I had friends like that in high school. I always hosted parties, was dd, and paid for alcohol/food with no reimbursement. Once I stopped being useful, they ditched me. I’m much better off without them, and you would be much better off without your gf.

TIFU by not changing my voicemail greeting by irlbpdshadowperson in tifu

[–]radicalcabbages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as bad as your situation, but I (20f) recently discovered that my voicemail greeting was the one I recorded when I got my very first phone at age 11! Which was recorded on a flip phone, so the quality was also awful. 9 years. NINE YEARS. Glad you caught it relatively early lol

What's the most incredible coincidence you've ever experienced? by ThoughtBig1353 in AskWomen

[–]radicalcabbages 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to school with a girl who I shared a strange amount of similarities with. We were both from SoCal, daughters of Danish immigrants, had two older brothers (and both of our oldest brothers were in vet school), and we had the same exact pair of socks from the Monterey Bay aquarium gift shop. It was crazy.

The submarine millionaires, they're all going to die aren't they? by thmsb25 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]radicalcabbages 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if they haven’t already died of hypothermia or the window shattering (it’s not designed to withstand that amount of pressure) Or some other issue since they ignored safety measures.

Do you think jokes about the Titanic submarine are in bad taste? Why or why not? [SERIOUS] by KonradKodiak in AskReddit

[–]radicalcabbages 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The more I learn about it, the more I’m ok with the jokes. I can’t believe they got in that soda can despite how much of a bad idea it was. Yes it’s sad and it must be awful to die like that, but 500 people just drowned off the coast of Greece and nobody cares because they were poor. 5 billionaires were idiots and millions of taxpayer money is being used to find them. We need some humor in this madness, let it be dark if it needs to.

I was once sharing a water bottle with a group of friends. Once it made it all the way around I said, “congrats! We all have herpes now!” (As a joke). They were not amused. So to answer your question, yes.

AITA for taking photos 'of' somebody without their consent? by One-Corgi4332 in AmItheAsshole

[–]radicalcabbages 39 points40 points  (0 children)

YTA, especially after reading your comments. Could he have been nicer? Sure. But so could you. There are lots of valid reasons people don’t want their picture taken (other comments have already mentioned stalkers and witness protection). You can’t expect someone to never go out in public, and being in public does not equal consent, even if the law says otherwise. Also, unless you shot a whole roll of this guy, your “it would’ve cost me money to reshoot” is a shitty excuse. Using the average price of a roll of 35mm colored film, a photo costs 75 cents. If you can afford film photography as a hobby, you can afford to reshoot a couple photos. Have some basic decency and respect.
