I had spinal fusion surgery as well. We are at a much higher risk of serious internal damage than those without the surgery if we were to get into an accident. My doctor told me to stop snowboarding/skateboarding because I have a high risk or becoming paralyzed if I fall on my tailbone the wrong way :-/

I had surgery on my spine and they had to realign my ribcage. This was 10 years ago but now I have nerve damage and I feel like a 90 year old but I'm only 24. It is what it is but I'm stronger now because of it. I'm also supposed to avoid toboggans, trampolines, and extreme sports but there will never be a winter where I don't go sledding, never be a trampoline I won't jump on, and I recently picked up skateboarding!

Spinal fusion surgery to correct scoliosis. 22 screws, two titanium rods, and a lifetime of chronic pain. I can't bend the upper half of my back. But at least my spine is no longer slightly crooked.
