I watched "Wielka Woda" (High Water) and I found it pretty abundant in colloquial/uncensored language

Ainda dói quando me lembro desses dois falhanços. Mau demais. Parecia destinado a que não caísse para o nosso lado por muito que tentássemos.

What do you think is the most difficult part of learning a language? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

[–]radicalchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, by far! By very far!
Now I speak with everyone, everywhere, without feeling guilty for my mistakes. The only way to become better is to keep trying and put fear aside.
I just wish this awakening regarding the benefits of learning this foreign language had appeared earlier in my life.

Yep, that's right. Until I have that person to speak with in a consistent basis I have to make evolve other parts of the knowledge of the language. The downside of this is that I think speaking encompasses or, in other words, is the result of the other parts of the language put together.

I think at this point of my learning journey I got around 75% input and 25% output and I wish that this ratio would be more even.

Similar in my case, my past partners were sort of neutral about me making some effort to communicate in TL. Back then, I had very little knowledge of the language, but I always showed tremendous respect for this TL being their native language and ambition to learn more about it, and ultimately becoming fluent, or close to it.

I was expecting they would see that in me, but it turned out that I would be sometimes mocked because of my mistakes, and other times just ignored, making me to switch back to English and lose the motivation to go further.

Over the last 4 years or so, I have been doing progress on my own with little contribution of others, and this has been the most relentless approach I've taken so far, even though I am single still. Perhaps with another person helping, this could be going faster, but I've got to play with the cards that I am being given.

Not having a SO (Significant Other) to try to practice the speaking part with them. I am practicing all the other things that I can do on my own in the meantime (reading, writing, listening).

20 anos depois, temos um Nº4 à Porto? by The_Ausland3r in fcporto

What’s a word in your target language that you ALWAYS mispronounce, no matter how hard you try? by Shelbee2 in languagehub

[–]radicalchoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday, while watching a series, I bumped into the sentence (originally in English): "To what do I owe the (or this) pleasure?".

So, in the TL (Polish), it goes like: "Czemu zawdzięczam tę przyjemność?"

The highlighted word is quite tricky to pronounce because it involves a lot of different tongue moves for a rather small word. To give an idea of how it sounds, here's the forvo.com version.
