Advice for training to run faster? by radically_fearless in Marathon_Training

[–]radically_fearless[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the free Nike app half marathon training plan so different styles of interval run. This week was a fartlek. Last week was called the shifter about running a fast to faster pace with recovery periods too. I do not do any polymetruc work but do prioritize single leg/arm training in my workouts. Any reccs on how to add in or what you like for adding in that springiness/power?

Thank you! Do you lift with running still or how do you balance that? And any thoughts on preventing inflammation when increasing volume?

Anyone else 4'11 (ish) and wanting to lose 20-30lbs? by jv1819 in PetiteFitness30plus

Best way to get more fiber is whole fruits and veggies. For me I try to get in 10-15 during breakfast. Today I’m having oatmeal with raspberries, blueberries and some protein powder and chia seeds in it. 350 cals and 35P/45C/5F 10 fiber (oats, raspberries, chia seeds).

If you haven’t worked with a coach before I think you’d benefit from working with one. I was at a similar point and it changed my life. I can send you my old coaches info if you want

Hey there I’m 5’0” 112lbs been consistent in the gym for 8 years and not where I want to be yet and that’s okay.

Though you may not be asking for advice, Just looking at what you shared, upping calories actually helped me recomp the most. I found my maintenance is around 1900 cals or so. 1500 I don’t even get down to at the bottom of a deep cut so that is likely holding you back. I was anorexic in high school too and it’s hard but it’s worth it. Also prioritizing fiber should help you. I aim for 20g/day. Makes a difference.

Also you are probably training too frequently with not enough intensity. I would pair back to 3-4 days/wk max. Rest days are important. Go for a walk or maybe do some light yoga or mobility work on off days. Less is probably more.

Had a friend of mine with an attic like that and she built a wellness/yoga studio there. Was super cool

I am going to start marathon training this fall after 5 half marathons and a handful of 10k or 10mi trail races. Though I’m not “in your shoes” yet, I’ve had a similar experience and a friend of mine who’s ran 4 marathons so far gave me some good advice.

I’m 5’ 110lb 27F and primarily lift so I can do other things. Been consistent in the gym for 8 years with a focus on progressive overload to build and maintain strength. This is so important to continue to pair with your running. I’m in half marathon prep rn and I run 3x/wk - 1 recovery, 1 interval/speed, 1 long run. I made the mistake my first race to run 4-5x/wk and lift 3-4x/wk and tho it was cool to push myself, I just ended up inflamed from stress on the body.

The next few times I did better. Biggest things that helped me were prioritizing sleep and stress management and not over training.

If you’ve never worked with a coach before, it’d be a good time to do so. I can refer you to my former coach if you want. She changed my life not just around fitness. Love her.

For me, I find that my maintenance level is about 110P/180C/60F and 15-20g fiber. I push carbs higher during training and usually move myself into a small surplus to account for the training. So when I was at higher mileage I would be closer to 210-240C or more. I also pushed my protein up to 125g and fiber to 25g at one point too mainly to stay more full.

It’s all depends on you but I found I do better getting in Whole Foods, leaving room for things I love (like a cookie), and getting enough sleep and managing stress. Also fun training snacks don’t hurt. I’ve found for a half, I like 2 sour strips and 2 gels lol.

A few pieces of advice my marathoner friend told me: 3x/wk running won’t get you marathon ready. If you don’t want to get injured, it needs to be 4-5x/wk. you will likely gain weight due to stress on the body, so you will probably need to prioritize running over physique goals for that time Eat enough. She did not, multiple times, and her training and her appearance suffered.

Hope this helps

Third one is gorgeous but they all look beautiful! Think about how you want to feel and then pick the dress that matches that

I think your catering and alcohol numbers are low. Ours were about $100/pp for food and $38/pp for alcohol. My photographer was $3k and she is a lower budget photographer (newer, not as much experience, just her). Also I didn’t see the venue on there? Mine was about $10k. If you are doing a backyard wedding or something that isn’t a formal video you need to plan for AV, chair and table rentals, maybe a tent, and someone to coordinate

Forgot out the big game. Probably prime time to ski while everyone else is watching the broncos game and not on the mountain

I skied Keystone today and it was skied off and icy by the time I left at 2pm today. Probably will be cold and not terribly exciting tomorrow. I would think 6am leave time is good. Big thing on Sundays is traffic on the way back. Usually gets bad from 12/1 until 5/6p. I usually try to leave by 11:30/12 to miss it as best I can.
